Spies seem primarily motivated by money, ideological considerations, combination of both but in this case it seems Jeffrey Sterling decided to leak classified information to the New York Slimes All the Classified Leaks Fit To Print out of revenge, after attempts at remedying his grievances complaints of discrimination against the CIA, having failed.

Revenge is a great motivator. You have to wonder what gets a guy that angry, though. Who hasn’t been screwed over in their career, you know?

Still, the information about Operation Merlin was very interesting. If nothing else, to showcase yet again how inept the CIA is.

Good. Now round up his associates and put them all behind bars.

I hope he spend the next decade of summers playing hoop at Danbury.

The indictment shows, chillingly, that the federal government had been monitoring Risen and Sterlings' communications going back years. (Either that, or the feds recently grabbed copies of archived e-mails from Risen or Sterling's computer.)

LMAO!!
Is this some kind of lame satire piece? Or is this actual news as written by a some Daily Collegian kid?

Two tiers of Justus. Remember in the 90’s Patrick Leahy dropped classified information that caused several American operatives to be murdered and he is still a US Senator.

I fail to see why this is “chilling” since the leaks by the perp to the MSM validated the reason that NSA put the taps on in the first place!

Speaking as a former spook, you’re off base, buddy. Everyone I knew was motivated by love of country and love of the job.

I don’t understand why this guy got prosecuted, when it is a well known fact that the NEW YORK TIMES is an AUTHORIZED OUTLET for ALL SECRETS.

If he had been giving information to Wikileaks, that would be a different thing.

: )
