Nikki Haley was sworn in earlier today on the capital steps as our states 116th governor. She is also the first female and first non-white governor of South Carolina, if you care about those things. I do not engage in racial or gender politics so it doesnt matter to me.
She has presented an agenda that I am happy with and I hope that she will do a better job of getting it enacted than former Governor Mark Sanford. Sanford rankled the state legislature more than he needed to, in my opinion, and as a result it cost him a lot of his vision for the state. Haley has pledged to have a better working relationship with the legislature so lets keep our fingers crossed. She gave a great speech today.
