Why couldn’t someone make a “Breakfast Club”..something with plot, that movie has virtually 0 special effects?
Even it doesn’t hold water to some of the greats of the 30’s-60’s..

That's the point: studios today won't risk something that relies almost entirely on plot, thinking that everything has to either have huge stars or special effects or sex/violence.
Plot-driven/story-driven movies are very tough pitches these days.
