From the link - Some are criticizing insurance companies Prudential and Met-Life for making money off the death benefits.
I've dealt with Met-Life over the last 10 years and they're as screwed up as Hogan's goat - grossly unethical if not illegal.
Example: I received notice in December 2008 that my dental policy would be continued for another year with the same monthly premium - $45. I agreed, but when they sent the first bill the rate had been increased.
When I canceled they said I still owed for the first month. I told them to come and get it.

We were screwed over by Met Life as well. My step father named us step kids as heirs in his life insurance, and Met Life decided we shouldn’t get any of the benefits because we weren’t “real” kids. At least the “real” kid got his benefits.
