According to a travel piece published in The Advocate, a national gay and lesbian magazine, Santa Fe is the second "gayest" city in America.
Mayor David Coss called The Advocate's accolades fantastic. He said Santa Fe is a tolerant community and that includes being gay-friendly.
Ranked first on The Advocate's list was Minneapolis. San Francisco rated 11th.

The article says a gay/lesbian retirement home, Rainbow Vision, puts on "raucous drag shows at the Silver Starlight Lounge." (Wonder what that looks like??) Further the magazine reports that Santa Fe has nine gay-friendly congregations, seven lesbian bars and four openly gay elected officials.
Currently the New Mexican article has 37 comments and is free to read.
I moved from Santa Fe 20 years ago and have never looked back.

I had an in-law who was gay. He lived in Santa Fe. Probably no coincidence.
He died of aids. Neither I nor my wife knew he was gay until he told her he was.

Can’t resist commenting on the mayor’s claim about being “tolerant.” Santa Fe is tolerant of illegals (a “sanctuary” city), homosexuals (as above), drugs (meth lab found downtown a couple of days ago), the homeless (they and the mentally ill inhabit the Santa Fe River area especially in the summer and hassle tourists), and gangs (who beat up homosexuals, shoot at those who “dis” them and leave graffiti on every flat vertical surface in the city).
They are intolerant of business, natural resource extraction, nuclear energy and Republicans.

His family told us he died of pneumonia but he was fairly young and we just assumed it must have been aids.

Could this explain why a certain Republican Senator from Idaho routed his flights via MSP?

I can believe it. One time a few summers ago the wife and I drove up and were walking around the old SF park. We felt like we were in the bar scene from Star Wars.

So much for keeping them up on Canyon Road. I went to school in Santa Fe in 65 and 66.

Excellent, another city I'll never get around to visiting.

Frowning takes 68 muscles.
Smiling takes 6.
Pulling this trigger takes 2.
I'm lazy.

Scared me. Here in Texas the people of Santa Fe still pray and believe in God. Something obviously missing in the ‘other’ Santa Fe.

We go to Santa Fe and Taos every summer (at least the past 5 years or so) to visit galleries and to be honest, I have not noticed. I guess I am completely oblivious.

I keep hearing about different cities being lauded as the "most 'gay' city" in America by the homo-fascists.
Methinks this is just part of their strategy to discourage normal Americans.
