Killing Politicians and Other Guilty Pleasures
The American Thinker ^ | January 16, 2011 | Denis Keohane

In the leftist pile-on blaming the Tucson shootings on the right, the collective voice of Hollywood was muted. Some, like Jane Fonda and Michael Moore, were among the notable exceptions, but most, including many normally outspoken liberals, were silent. Hollywood's instinct for self-preservation makes many wary of anything that resembles the issue of whether John Hinckley's attempted assassination of President Reagan was in any way related to Hinckley's obsession with Martin Scorsese's movie Taxi Driver.

Even after it became abundantly clear that the shooter was mentally disturbed rather than politically motivated, leftist politicians, pundits, and bloggers proclaimed that things like crosshairs on a campaign map of political districts and militaristic metaphors like "don't retreat, reload" were subliminal calls to violence and political killings by even the apolitical among the deranged. It's a matter of "climate," they claimed.

Were these people expressing sincere conviction or betraying a despicably ghoulish opportunism? If they truly believe their claims and that the purveyors of this language and imagery must be held accountable and act responsibly, why aren't they confronting Hollywood for presenting the killing of politicians in a favorable light? The answer is that such principles don't apply to their political allies!

I am not referring to the British faux-documentary Death of a President (2006) that has been mentioned by some this last week, in which President George W. Bush is assassinated. I am writing of two American-made films in which characters presented as right-wing elected officials were killed, by either the hero of the movie (Shooter) or by one of the right-wing politician's own minions in a scene intended to be humorous (Machete). In both films, the killing of the elected official was meant to be enjoyed by the audience, and for many on the left, that was precisely the case.

Is anyone out there who has a mind to think rationally still wondering who the real enemies of our freedom are? I would say that the recent polling showing the American people do now “get it,” tells us that those who put out visual images of the murder of conservatives or the “pseudo murder” contained in the hyper-hypocritical word assaults on their political opponents in the wake of a massacre carried out by a madman, will not prevail in our America. The left, exhibitionists that they are, just could not contain themselves and they made the mistake of opening their “playbook” for all to see. Their aims, goals and lust for power and censorship are now palpable. Please, America, do not be duped by any “moving to the middle” or “now they have changed their views” rhetoric. Their goal is to steal America for their one world goal..When America goes, the whole world will be plunged into darkness..Get out there and do all you can to defeat the liberals in 2012 while you still can.

Don’t be fooled.

The simple truth is the left is trying to silence its political opponents by any means necessary.

They don’t have the capacity for shame, which is the only antidote to Satan’s 7 deadly sins. They are evil unleashed. How does a person lose all shame?

Todays’ MSM would blame Reagan for his shooting, and ignore Hinckley entirely.

From what i understand, Jane Fonda made public statements blaming Sarah Palin for the Tucson tragedy, which was ridiculous even before the “press” was alerted to the fact that the shooter’s 2007 contacts with Congresswoman Giffords predated Gov. Palin’s public career. Does anyone else find it a bit odd that Miss Fonda is slandering innocents while yelling about violence when she was the one photographed hugging a Communist antiaircraft weapon that killed American fliers during Vietnam? I guess the press needs to be “alerted” to this fact as well.

Nah. Same ol' same ol' for a very stale 5 minutes of face time. (If the camera can take it--file images otherwise.)

“How does a person lose all shame?’’ When one has none, there is none to lose. Thus it is with liberals.
