I was in an ER room last month and read some literature for ER doctors in the lounge.

Seems there are rouge chemists that scour latest medical research papers for various drug results.

Most times the molecular formmua/diagram is given in the article.

The rouge chemists then reproduce the drug with a few tweaks to "improve" performance.

Once on the street it's initially unknown and difficult to detect....except for the dangerous side effects.

'rogue chemist' or entrepreneur?
the 'tweaks' are to make it a different chemical (with similar biological effects) to skate around statutory definitions rather than to improve performance. This sort of thing is on the increase. you cant outlaw chemistry.
