Phila has a lot of murders. I try to avoid the place.
I think the Mafia is there too. Was downtown Philadelphia on a Thanksgiving day with my crew several years ago looking for a place to eat. Saw a place that had ‘guards’ placed in front of a mom ‘n pops Italian restaurant- 2 of the biggest black guys with the biggest arms and chests I have ever seen. Wearing sunglasses on an extremely overcast day. Being a little naive, I walked up to pacing short white man who was wearing a suit with white socks and asked him where to have a holiday dinner, that it was a surprise we had the time off, being that we were a flight crew. Being from the South and all, I had settled in for a nice long talk and he pointed out a good place to go. He had a gravely voice and was very nice. Told my father about it that night and he

He is the one who made the connection about mafia- I figured he knew as he is full Sicilian. My great grandfather opened up the first speakeasy in Pa back in the day.
Good recommendation on the restaurant though. We got in right away and got a good seat. Pretty good for a place that only took reservations.
