U.S. Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano will be Emory University's commencement speaker during the May 9 ceremony.

Napolitano, the former governor of Arizona, was the first woman to chair the National Governors Association.

"As our graduating students set forth to shape their own lives and careers, they will be well served by the example of Janet Napolitano, who has used her exceptional intelligence, integrity and humanity in behalf of positive transformation in the world," Emory President James Wagner said in a news release.

About 3,600 students are expected to graduate. The ceremony will be held on the university quadrangle on campus.

Is it becoming the norm to have Federal speakers at graduations? I know they were the featured speaker at Pacific Lutheran’s in Tacoma three years ago this Memorial Day. She was recruiting! Incidentally and oddly for a Christian school, not one word was said about remembering those who gave life and limb to keep us free either!

C’mon, a private university will stare snake-fascinated at Big Sis and believe everything she says.

Another one of Obamalini’s henchman.

When I graduated from Emory, we didn’t pay attention to the graduation speaker. I doubt that these kids will either.

Agreed. The grads will be too busy throwing beach balls, blowing bubbles and taking photos.
