Yes, I think that’s what they had in the French Revolution. There was just as much blood in the streets as there would have been had it been the “elites” that took over. They ended up with a Corsican dictator, the “emperor” Napoleon.

Robespierre kept the guillotines busy for 13 months slaughtering just about anyone. 78% were peasants, 8% were clergy and abotu 8% were the elites.
