The founder of Jimmy John’s sandwich shops says he’s considering moving his company’s headquarters from Champaign to Florida because of Illinois’ new tax increase.

Gov. Pat Quinn signed the income tax increase last week to help address billions of dollars in state budget shortfalls. The corporate tax rate increased from 4.8 to 7 percent.

We have automated most of what you note here that would be a danger or get me taxed. Other items don’t apply until you have ??? certain amount of employees or operate in certain fields.

We learned long ago to automate and avoid many of the fake injuries that employees like to claim on light duty jobs like ours.

I worked for FedEx a long time ago and watched the least physical employees file carpal tunnel and mild back pain claims. They went through surgery and all in the hope of living a WC life. It’s not available even if you get sawed in half.

All of them now work at convenience stores, Walmart or off their kids.

This taught me what to watch for on the floor so as to not expose myself to the same scams or the regulations.

The Feds take 35% of a corporations profits first. States line up for another 10% (here in CA). Workers Comp rates are ridiculous. Our political leaders all believe they can run any business better than the people who started them. They know best because they care the most. Whatever, they are world class idiots who are like Shakespears poor, poor player who struts and frets his hour upon the “state” and then is heard no more!!!

Jimmy John better get going the Chi-town Soviets will clamp down on relocation soon and may erect a ‘Berlin’ wall around Chi-town. Even now the Thug Stasi will likely lean on any business that mentions relocation.

Yea, we need a DHS wall built on the Florida border. First the Mario boatlift and now this from the other direction.

We do have corporate income tax here just to clear the record. Scott’s campaign goal is to eliminate it though.

Florida has a new activist Republican governor. He is from the business sector. All he talks about is more job creation in FL

So any Illinois businesses that can bug out to Florida will be given the red carpet treatment

Due to the housing bubble the Florida economy stinks as bad as the California economy. But Florida has a Republican governor and both statehouses are Republican. California has Democrats running all three

So a few years from now we will see which state improved its economy

Way to go. No sense is allowing yourself to be a whipping boy or being charged unfair tax rates in comparison to other type businesses

Most vegetarian subs are quite good, I find. It's a question of mind set. Once you stop thinking of them as sandwiches and reframe them as salads with two really big croutons, you've hit culinary gold....

I’m right there with ya. Did more than my part in campaigning for the Tea Party approved ticket since June of 09 with my first candidate choice then was Rubio after hearing his presentation in Lake City. I know people who are personal friends with Rick Scott and now I am stumping for the man who will follow in the same mold for the next Mayor of Jacksonville.

It is high time to start cutting these rediculous state and local budgets with an axe instead of a scapple. The first ray of things to come was the strikethrough of any idiodic high speed rail systems. Anxiously looking for more to come.

Just pay your taxes ten years in advance and you’ll be allowed to cross the state line.
Ahhh...yes, that would be cash.

Way to go!
I like Marco’s lifestyle... Family man with a nice family. Marco will be a vast improvement over that cynical money grubber Mel Martinez. Who I voted for rather than any Democrat

Rick Scott— Lets see what a real businessman can do as governor. I have high hopes and voted for him in the primary. I was really worried that Scott was going to lose to Alex Sink. She came off pretty good, it was a close election

Wow—all our high state offices are filled by Republicans. Only exception is that imbecile Bill Nelson. He is way past his sell date.

I live in Illinois and what little humor can be found in this situation is the fact that Wisconsin is trying to woo Illinois business to come to Wisconsin, whose corporate and personal income taxes are already higher than Illinois' new rates.

We have other border states to choose from, among them, Indiana,Iowa,Missouri and Kentucky. We'll leave Michigan out of the equation for now.

I live in central Illinois and my personal choice is Missouri.

Illinois does not tax retirement income, Missouri does. Since my retirement income is a minority part of my total, it still will be profitable for us to move there, lower property taxes etc., with the added advantage of, Missouri has concealed carry, while it is still a felony in Illinois to think about guns.
