Baghdad (CNN) -- Former President George H.W. Bush is getting his old foreign policy team back together on the 20th anniversary of the Gulf War.

The reunion is being held on the Texas A&M University campus in College Station, where the Bush presidential library is located.

A roundtable discussion by the Bush team is expected to include the 41st president, former vice presidents Dan Quayle and Dick Cheney, who was secretary of the defense at the time, and former secretaries of state James Baker and Colin Powell, who was chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.

Iraq invaded on August 1990, declaring Kuwait its 19th province. The United States led a counter-offensive starting January 16, 1991.

Quite an accomplishment. Unfortunately, it set the bar so high that future military actions could never measure up. Americans now want ground campaigns that last 100 hours.

Might as well celebrate this. Unfortunately it’s about the ONLY thing he got right during his four years in office.

To discuss what? How they were too soft to finish the job? to discuss how it would have been impossible to launch Desert Storm in the first place had Israel not taken out the Dimona nuclear reactor in 1981 (at attack H.W. Bush criticized)? Give me a break. Just because he cracks wise and jumps out of airplanes won’t make me wistful for this spineless RINO who raised taxes, reduced border security, massively increased Federal environmental regulation, and otherwise got rolled by George Mitchell at every turn.

The Cheney person looks more like press secretary Marlin Fitzwater(was that his name?) than Mr. Cheney.

(At least to me).

Desert Shield/Storm was but a speed bump in the Bush(41)/Clinton/Bush(43)/Obama Destuction of the US and The US Military. I hope G*D has a special place reserved for ALL of them and their minions. Ronald Reagan was the LAST CofC the this country had that was worth anything.

You are right. That guy on the right is Marlin. It was nice to remember when the Press Secretary just went out and answered questions and didn't spin. Cheney probably had the excuse that his mother was ill so that he could avoid that room full of progressives.

Too bad old man Bush listened to Colin Powell. After a few days of kicking Iraqi butt, Powell insisted we stop. Instead GWB had to go back in to finish “unfinished business”.

Did they call for higher taxes... bigger government... continuing ban on drilling... a one world order... issue a statement backing obama 100% and calling for a ban on high capacity mags and a reinstatement of the assault weapons ban?

Wow! Did the press release really say that? “The President of Bush?”

Sounds like the old “Linda Lovelace for President” campaign from the 1970s. Bad memories . . .

In Gulf War I, Baghdad cold have been taken by Iraqi troops, with coalition air and logistical support. Instead we let an Iraqi commander and his unit hang out to dry while the Republican Guards slaughtered them.
