The point of both my pieces seems crystal clear, narrow in their scope, and even a little repetitive. But let me repeat it again
Hollywood has spent the last two decades hammering and insulting Middle America, Christians, and conservatives. Worse, they do it with sucker punches that insultingly come out of nowhere in whats advertised as apolitical entertainment. Furthermore, this is an industry that prides itself on pushing the edgy envelope at every opportunity right in our face and when we least expect it. Sunday night, Hollywood got a taste of their own medicine and proved they couldnt take it. It was revealing and it was deserved. Bravo, Ricky.

Who really cares what some chubby, little Englishman, (who more than likely takes it ‘up the bum’), thinks?

This comment is out of line.
The Palin remark got me too. Another one was the kind and genteel Muslim chaplain and Ziva as the bitter, angry, hothead.
I saw a number of episodes of Gervais in The Office, and he was hysterical. Strangely enough, my wife, who grew up in England, didn’t like it. In Gervais’s obnoxious character, we can see the negative traits of quite a few people. Gervais is a very good imitator of those sorts of people. What people might not know about Gervais is that he was in some pop group from the early eighties called Seona Dancing. There are videos of the group with Gervais doing the lead singing. Few people would recognize him as the singer if not pointed out.
Maybe you missed the episode from a few years ago when after one the characters remarked on the number of Islamic bombings going on, Harmon's character opined that there were quite a few abortion clinics being bombed also. The show has always been politically correct/left leaning.
Last year we had the "plea for Muslim tolerance" episode, and an episode in which Tony and Ziva broke into a building and Ziva wondered aloud "if we are any better than the terrorists".
Don't forget last year's Christmas Eve episode which featured a Christian "honor killing" in which a soldier who converted to Islam in Iraq was killed by his Christian minister father and brother.

eeuuw - you are right, I am having flashbacks. I wonder how many are like me, watching out of force of habit and a hope that the show will return to its golden days?
Nah - more like Phyllis;) tee hee!
Thx;) I’ve seen a couple of shows and loved them.
An exact copy-cat would have been a waste of writing talent so why bother? The differences are American vs. British foibles.
I also expect Ricky Gervais wanted to reserve the character of the edgy office manager to himself. But, Michael Scott does have moments of squirm factor.
Gervais is definitely at war with believers.
The motion picture "The Invention of Lying" is all about equating faith in God with Santa Claus, basically. Does anyone need to be reminded whom Christ credits with the invention of lying?
Admiration for this tragically hip style of mocking makes his atheism seem fashionable, harmless even, and Gervais may really think it's bravery. I think it's foolish and harmful.
Guys, they marketed the show as Ricky snarking at the overprivileged, needy egos in the room. That’s what he did. Now they’re freaking out. I can’t overemphasize what prats they look like now.
I really really miss Caitlin and having her on Rizzoli and Isles really doesn’t cut it. She was sexier as a field agent than as a ME and the character made more sense as well.
No slam on Cote de Pablo, she’s good, but the character has gone flat now that she has that invisible boyfriend and DiNozzo is reduced to schoolboy snarking. Just doesn’t work. Show is jumping the shark as we speak.
I just finished season one. The DVDs are interspersed from NetFlix so it’ll be a while before I see the next ones.
BTW, if you liked PD, how did you like “Joan of Arcadia”?
I am selective about SK books in the extreme. The only ones I even mention in polite company are “The Stand” and his book of short stories.
That’s okay, its just Hollyweird screenwriters having their individual Forrest Gump moments.

Well, Harry’s Law does have Mrs. Misery in it and she’s a long-time snarker. She even did a nasty parody of Rush in the middle of ‘The Stand’.
Never really watched Joan. My wife liked it if I remember right.
If you are interested, there is a PD soundtrack in limited release.
I liked Gervais's Office, too. The American version with Steve Carell gets a little hard for me to take.
It's always easier to laugh at foreigners. Americanize the series and it hits too close to home.
It's not a funny foreign guy with funny foreign ways anymore, but somebody you'd run from if you see him coming down the street.
It's pure embarassment, unalloyed with funny ways of talking and references to foreign things.
