Funny how when the weather gets HOT in the summer, the MSM loves to trumpet the record HEAT.

Everyone knows Int'l Falls, MN has a reputation for having coldest winter weather in lower 48, and last nights low will help FREEZE that reputation in place.

I am sure Al Gore will be crawling out of one of his mansions soon to warn us on the danger of fossil fuels.

I just Googled the population of International Falls, MN, and came up with numbers between 5,600 and 12,000. It’s a county seat.

Why do thousands of people live there in the winter? Shouldn’t they just migrate out and come back when it’s better?

“the previopus record set in 1954...”

Gee, wasn’t that when we were at our worst as polluters?

They are frozen in place, lol. In fact I think a number of people who are involved in tourism probably do leave for the winter. The boundary waters is great to canoe in the summer, but not so much in winter.

Unless your canoe has wheels.

He’s probably counting all the millions of dollars he has made on the scam of global warming carbon credits with which he bought his beachfront property in California with.
The communist left loves power and money and hates people as its fruits show daily.

We get about 3-4 weeks of minus 45-50-60 every winter here in the Ak interior; cold weather never drive me outta here. It was minus 50 this morn, been cold for a week and a half, but is supposed to break on sat; around zero.

What I can't understand is how so many happily accept the congestion, pollution, taxes, crime, regulation, comprehensive planning, local ordinances, law enforcement saving you all from yourselves, stress, and all the forms of social & govt slavery that has become the standard in your lives? No joke, minus 55 ain't nothing to stay free.

In 2001 the wind chill formula was updated to increase the equivalent temperatures. The "Freezer Bowl" AFC Championship game in 1982 went from -59°F wind chill up to the balmy -37°F after recalculation.

Here is a page with the old and new formulas and a calculator: http://www.onlineconversion.com/windchill.htm

Yes but now it’s the developing nations that are polluting as they are building up their own economy, as we once did ours.

(China, India, and Sub-Saharan Africa)

Well Eska, I would say it was mostly an evolution of policy. When the EPA was first founded, it was about cutting down the acid rain. I would believe Alaska is a state with minimal pollution, but Pennsylvania was pretty bad from the dirty coal burning, and there were a number of real recorded sickness and death from sulfur in the air, that gave the EPA some serious steam to blow off. However, it’s fallacious to compare the global warming to the acid rain/death fog incidents, because the global warming shows little direct relationship while sulfur or particle emissions did. The EPA was credible in the earlier issues, and that’s why there’s the situation now.

Are you ready for this one?

Some High Priest of Global Climate Change says the reason for colder temps and more snow this winter is that the Arctic is losing its cold temperatures and they are sliding southward causing more snow and colder temps.

Arctic warming pushing cold wave south over eastern U.S.

Oh. So US cleaning up OUR act has done no good? Why do we need to spend ourselves into bankruptcy then?

Wifey & I originally from western Pa. Born in Westmoreland Co, spent most of our lives in Crawford Co. We have been in Alaska for 20 years; couldn't imagine ever moving back to what it was like 20 years ago; and all my friends tell me it has gotten a ton worse than from how controlled I remember it being back when we lived in Pa.

We live in an unorganized borough/community, no law, no prop taxes, very few services. I like living in a place that lacks local govt, nobody ever attempting to grow taxes when services don't exist. Living in a state that doesn't have any state taxes and 60 billion in savings where state only spend 7 bill/year on state govt; (thank You Sarah), plus 100 years of oil still in the ground for the future. In a place lacking fences, miles on miles of open country, surrounded by mountains and hardly any people; heck we don't even have a cell tower within 200 miles. Nearest state police are 200 miles away and our road is closed for thee winter; no crime whatsoever here. No locked doors, no keys outta any vehicles, and I know every single person that lives within 200 miles of my home;;; That's peace of mind buddy, no joke.

Sorry to go on, people back east need to wake back up that it doesn't have to be the way it is back there. I was conditioned once too, thinking that 15K my family paid in state taxes every year was just normal; it's not normal.

Dang, I luv Alaska; belong here, cold weather and all.
