Emanuel has the support of 44 percent of likely voters surveyed in a Chicago Tribune/WGN poll released late Thursday - a jump from the 32 percent he had last month.
[...]
Emanuel now has the support of 40 percent of blacks, compared with 19 percent in last month's survey.Since last month, two African-American candidates, Rep. Danny Davis (D-Ill.) and state Sen. James Meeks, have dropped out of the race. They both endorsed former Sen. Carol Moseley Braun, who the poll shows has 39 percent of the African-American vote.
Overall, Braun trails Emanuel badly with 21 percent of the vote - up from 6 percent in last month's poll - and former city board of education president Gery Chico at 16, the Tribune poll found. Other candidates are further back and 9 percent of voters said they are undecided.
Braun has performed poorly and made the tone deaf gaffe of telling reporters she would not release any more financial information because she "didn't feel like it." There are questions swirling around several companies she owns and this may have caused her standing among African Americans to fall.
But there may be a simpler reason; the Machine. Fairly or not, Emanuel is seen as the inheritor of Daley's mantle as regular Democratic party leader. What the Machine does better than anything else is dole out goodies to favored groups; jobs, contracts, political power. The realization may be setting in among blacks that Carol Mosely-Braun might not be able to deliver and therefore, sticking with the Machine will insure that the black community gets their share of the pie.
With the Hispanic vote split between two candidates, Emanuel looks like a winner if he can avoid a major gaffe or some embarrassing revelation from his days in Washington.
And Barry wins the Presidency in 2012 due to the 50,000,000 last minute votes cast for him in Cook County.
You mean they are actually NOT going to chose Carol Mostly-Fraud over The President’s man?? Wow...
It’s coming out in the ‘hood’ what an idiot Mosely-Braun is. The black webzine “The Root” put out an embarrassingly frank article about Mosely-Braun. In the years since she was booted from the Senate, she has lost money spectacularly and her business ventures have all tanked. The article made it look as though (behind the flash) she was a hairs’ breadth from bankruptcy and homelessness and it was made obvious that she was desperate for a paycheck. It was equally obvious that she is not competent to run a lemonade stand and that a lot of people were angry that this was the best black politician the hood could come up with for the office.
Rahm, with his Obama/Bill Daley contacts in Washington, will keep the money spigot open and flowing with Federal dollars.
They will go to the candidate they believe can get them the most free stuff from Washington.
It is the fault of racist white people.(Isn’t everything?)
Everytime I witness an Obama adminstration official saying ANYTHING..... I get racist thoughts..
Would even be afraid of Col. West or Herman Caine as President..
Obama is a spoiler.. he is a political disease.. himself..
Must SLAP myself to separate black from black.. and even from half-black..
One of the master minds of Freddie Mac .Emmanuel made $26 mil before leaving , went on a local talk show urging the city honor unsupported union pension plans....Wade & Roma WLSam 890 1-20-11....
I heard Don Wade talk about that, today.
Whom do you endorse, in that race? I support Fred White, the only conservative, in the race. He’s pro-tax cuts, pro-spending cuts, pro-gun rights, and anti-illegal alien. His site is www.fredrick-k-white.com.
They’re just following the money.
The last election I really got involved in was Pete Bensingers vs Old man Daley where I carried the 12th pct 12th ward for him by 2 votes. Other elections I was involved in as a paid staffer was John Waner’s and later designed orint pieces for John Andrica race for City Clerk who drew thousands more votes than Jack (not Jim) Thompson race.
I have some ideas for you drawning on some stuff I did here in Wisconsin which defeated a 20 term (40 years) state rep .
but I’ll need you to respond to your private mail first,
