1. Pledge to America: Health Care Repeal
Today is a very good day! Last night, House Republicans held true to their promise and voted to pass HR 2 which repealed Obamacare. This is just the beginning of the road to full repeal. Now it is time to call your Senators and urge them to bring this bill to the floor for a vote. Harry Reid has said that he has no plans to bring this bill to the Senate, however Mitch McConnell promised that the Senate will have a vote on the Repeal Bill. Remember, if we get the bill to the floor, we only need 4 Democrats to join Republicans in voting for the bill in order for it to pass.
Action Items:
1. Call Your Senators and urge them to push for a vote in the Senate.
2. Call Harry Reid and demand that the Repeal Bill get an up or down vote in the Senate. (202) 224-3542
3. Call these Senators who will be up for re-election in 2012, tell them you want an up or down vote on the repeal bill in the senate and that you want them to vote in favor of the bill.
2. Pledge to America: Spending Cuts
Representative Jim Jordan, the new Chairman of the Republican Study Committee (a.k.a. the "conservative conscience of the Republican Party") is circulating a letter among his Republican colleagues, encouraging the leadership to stick to their campaign promises of cutting $100 billion this fiscal year. You can help Chairman Jordan and the RSC in their efforts to hold the GOP accountable by calling your Republican representative, if you have one. We aren't looking for a fight necessarily, but we want to encourage the GOP leadership, and remind them that this is why we elected them in such historic numbers. We know that the fiscal year is already in progress, and while $100 billion in cuts over the course of 12 months would be better than nothing, that's not what was promised.
