STRANGE BEDFELLOWS: Breitbart Is Throwing an '80s-Themed Gay Party
National Journal ^ | January 19, 2011 | John Hudson

Posted on 01/22/2011 11:09:11 AM PST by Tolerance Sucks Rocks

For months, the family values wing of the Republican Party has been protesting the inclusion of GOProud, a right-wing gay group, at this year's Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC). You won't hear any protesting, however, from conservative media mogul Andrew Breitbart.

"We're going to have a big ol' gay party," he said on a radio show Wednesday. Breitbart says gays deserve a place within the Republican Party and he's been "offended" by efforts to exclude them. Therefore, he's throwing an 80's-themed gay party to welcome them on board.

If this sounds like uncharacteristic behavior for Breitbart, his additional remarks should clear things up:

I am not endorsing gay marriage, I'm not endorsing Don't Ask, Don't Tell. I will be the harshest critic of the activist gay left, who I fear more than al-Qaida. But for these people not to exist in a two-party system, for you to tell them they're not welcome in the big tent, I have a huge problem with that and I'm going to indulge in my all '80s Depeche Mode, Cure, New Order fetish and we're going to have a big 'ol gay party at CPAC.
Al-Qaida—really? Here's some Depeche Mode to cool down some of that hot talk:

Brietbart, Gutfeld and other “hip conservatives” subscribe to the settled-science of the non-existent gay gene the same exact way the greens subscribe to the settled-science of non-existent anthropogenic global warming. It’s a feel-good fraud that makes life a lot easier for people, like Andrew and Greg, who live in major urban centers and work and socialize with many homosexuals.

I know Robert Smith of The Cure isn’t gay. He’s been with the same woman for his entire career and married for 25 years.

I am not endorsing gay marriage, I'm not endorsing Don't Ask, Don't Tell.

GOProud is. And, any group whose primary objectives are to promote homosexuality is not a conservative one.

I’m almost certain that “gorpoud” do. Can someone please confirm?

Fully half of GOProud’s top 10 federal priorities center on using the Government to advance homosexuality, including: #4 – “Repealing ‘Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell’” – Homosexualizing the military is reckless, especially in wartime. GOProud claims to defend “individual liberty,” but what about the privacy rights of normal soldiers who don’t want to bunk and shower with men who lust after other men? Moreover, if DADT is repealed, the military will become a massive government bureaucracy for pro-homosexual “diversity” – subjecting millions of tradition-minded servicemen to Orwellian, same-sex propaganda to enforce its new lavender crusade. (Chaplains: beware.)

# 7 – “Opposing any anti-gay federal marriage amendment.” Coulter must know that America might be just one Supreme Court justice away from legalizing oxymoronic homosexual “marriage” – which would undermine religious freedom in every state in the nation. A Federal Marriage Amendment could be the only way to stop this Roe v. Wade-like disaster. And since when did state-enforced homosexual “marriage” – with its corrosive effect on liberty and linkage to Homosexuality Promotion in schools — become “conservative”?

GOProud is non-committal on ENDA (Employment Non-Discrimination Act), which would federalize workers’ “rights” based on homosexuality and gender confusion. A truly conservative organization would fight this federal power grab — and GLBT lawyers’ dream legislation — tooth and nail. Ann, are you aware that these days it’s Christians like Julea Ward and Matt Barber who defend biblical truth – not “gays” – who are victims of corporate discrimination?

“Any support for this pervert by Fox, Hannity, etc... and they can all be on my mute button for good.”

By their silence they are condoning it. Which is the main reason why I've stopped watching and listening to them (including Rush).

Don’t forget Frankie Goes To Hollywood. The original version of “Relax” featured gay S&M and was banned from both MTV and the BBC.

Breitbart is not and to my knowledge has never claimed to be a ‘conservative.’ He’s a libertarian. However he’s done more for the ‘conservative’ cause than most who self-describe themselves as such.

No surprise Breitbart is now Breitbutt.....

He attacked Obama Eligibility people for asking for Obama to release his long-form birth cert....and Breitbart attacked Birthers at a Tea Party rally last year.

And, I have not even got into his helping start up the Huffington Post

Andrew Breitbart is no Conservative.

The 4 main members of Depeche Mode all married (or divorced)with kids
The 4 main members of New Order all married w kids
Robert Smith of the Cure married to childhood sweetheart

Maybe they should try queen, village people, and elton john instead.

It was nice while it lasted, Breitbart. Now go have a nice conversation with that other cornerstone of conservatism, Andrew Sullivan.

I suggest CPAC not use that in their marketing pieces.

The GOProud distraction continues to dominate, while the Muslim Brotherhood’s infiltration of the ACU slides under the radar. Salil Khan is the sole reason I and my group of 22 conservatives canceled our CPAC attendance this year.

Andrew Breitbart is no Conservative.

That's a fairly cretinous statement if you know anything about Andrew Breitbart. He's a true conservative.

Breitbart is about to receive the same fate as Oprah, whose ratings sank precipitously after she endorsed Der Fooler.

I don’t recall the 80’s being all that great for Gays, healthwise.

Right on target. I worked in the arts. Literally scores of my acquaintances died of AIDS -- musicians, craftsmen, fine and applied artists, dancers, costumers, florists, watchmakers, antique dealers, piano tuners, caterers, restauranteurs, plasterers, restoration carpenters, house flippers -- you name it.
