Gun control did not stop Hinckley. He also had to shot over, under around, and through Secret Service agents and James Brady.

"(In a cliche that bears repeating: Someone preparing to shoot others has already demonstrated their willingness to break the law.)"

That's right. Murder is against the law; whether it be by a firearm, knife, strangulation, drowning, club...

Most gun control is directed at law abiding citizens.

Gun control is like trying to solve drunk driving by making it harder for sober people to own cars.

I remember there was some exchange between a MSNBS talk show host with PMS and an pro-gun-rights congressman where the host blithely concludes that a lack of a large capacity magazine would have stopped the shooter in Arizona. The congressman pointed out that the biggest users of these types of magazines were police officers whose own lives would be endangered if they had to constantly reload their weapons.

Of course, even with a 10 round clip, there would have been nothing stopping the shooter from bringing more loaded guns instead.

10s of millions if not 100s of millions of guns in America.
Try to “control” them or their users.
Be like herding a passel of cats.

Bah. He’s pretending that there’s no deterrent effect in knowing that many people around you are packing heat too.
