Pulling in 60% of the vote, State Representative Fred Mills is headed to the State Senate. With all 111 precincts reporting, here are your election results:
Simone B. Champagne (R) 19% 4,040
David Groner (N) 12% 2,534
Ruben LeBlanc (N) 1% 208
Fred "T-Fred" Mills, Jr. (R) 60% 12,812
Armond Schwing (R) 8% 1,644
Kenneth "Ken" Squires (R) 1% 172
Is it safe to assume the vacancy election is because another R was promoted up, so the district is at least R-leaning? And, if the balance changes mid-session, do they make changes in chairmanships, committee balances, etc ?
I don’t know about committee selections, but the vacancy opened up after the Democrat there went for a higher paying job. The district is R-leaning.
Thanks. I was curious because of how the Senate readjusted after Jumpin’ Jim Jeffords went D, and also briefly last year when a couple of D’s from NYC switched (before switching back).
