I’ve done a few step parent adoptions and also we have an adopted daughter. Her birth certificate shows me and Mr. Mercat as her parents. There’s no mention of her birth parents or of her having been adopted. And her name is A.I. Mercat (not really but you get the drift) with no mention of her birth name. And since Mr. Mercat and I were not anywhere near her birthplace which is still accurate, its a bit weird but there it is.

The original BC could be under ‘Dunham,’ and only if reckless Ann Dunham declared the Indonesian adoption to HI officials did the HI BC get changed.

That's interesting. But, that doesn't tell me whether the original certificate exists in the filing system, or if there is a link or reference to it in the filing system. It's hard to believe that the original records, or any link to them, would simply be destroyed.
