Former Sen. George Allen will end weeks of speculation and formally declare his candidacy for U.S. Senate in Virginia on Monday, two Republican advisers tell POLITICO.

Allen, who has been making all the moves of a candidate in recent weeks, is expected to blast an e-mail to supporters with a video message before alerting the media.

yes he did.
But is he a RINO or a real conservative?
If a rINO he should be dumped in any primary.

The macaca thing was a disgrace in many ways. First of all, the liberals in the MSM piled on and drove it into the ground, as they tend to do when the target is a Republican/conservative. Secondly, the Post ran a series of articles to inform people that macaca was supposed to be an ethnic/racial slur. The liberals had to spell out for people that macaca was a slur, since nobody in this country knew what that word meant.

The liberals had it in for George Allen and the macaca thing gave them an opening to make the election about macaca rather than real issues.

Not unlike the way the liberals used the Tucson shooting to go after Sarah Palin and conservatives in general. Now the liberal line is that we’re supposed to be more civil in our political dialogue, even though that subject is completely unrelated to what happened in Tucson. But it doesn’t matter to the liberals, they still have enough power to not let a crisis go to waste and shape the story and dialogue.

Most conservatives were planning to support him for President in 2008, before he lost the Senate seat in 2006.

George Allen is a real conservative, he was a great Governor of Virginia. I will vote for him over Webb any day

If he had any kind of backbone, he would have stayed in the race. He’s a typical republican. The media will probably find something else for him to apologize for and blow up this campaign, too.

Allen made the “macaca” incident worse by making a dumb apology that drifted into blather about his ancestors being Jewish. He was very weird in his attempt to curry favor with the liberal media, who hates him. Let’s hope he’s learned his lesson.

Yes, the macaca thing was a disgrace, but unlike Sarah Palin, Allen did not fight back. He became a serial apologizer. He validated the charge every time he apologized and it became an embarassment for many of us who supported him. He just couldn’t stop rolling over and exposing his belly. We need a strong, street fighter, candidate. I fear Allen will get wadded up and thrown away by the left and the Washington Post.

So, Jim Webb, how’re you gonna vote on the repeal of Obamacare should it come to a vote in the Senate?

IMHO, as a former Allen supporter, NO. I can’t support him. He’s trying to paint himself as the original Tea Partier...he’s not. He was a great governor. As Senator, not so much.

I was at the Virginia Tea Party Convention. He, Rick Santorum, Steve King and Ken Cuccinelli were on a panel discussing federalism. Santorum and Allen both reeked of establishment republicanism. I was very disappointed in both of them. They evaded and avoided the questions - and this was a relatively friendly audience.

Allen’s time is past. Time for new blood and people who will actually uphold the Constitution.

And AG Cuccinelli needs to be ready to oust the other Dim senator from Virginia when he’s up for reelection.

If Webb should not run, who might the Dems put up? I am hoping this would be a lean Republican race if he gets out but maybe not. If 0bama comes bouncing back and VA is a swing state again then the Dems would still have a chance.
