BUFFALO, N.Y. -- A former New York television executive accused of beheading his estranged wife has been granted permission to act as his own lawyer for the remainder of his murder trial.
In a reversal Monday, a judge allowed Muzzammil Hassan to take over as lead counsel from attorney Jeremy Schwartz. The two have been at odds over Hassan's defense since the trial began in Buffalo last week. Schwartz will stay on to help.

Hassan is accused of killing Aasiya Hassan inside the Muslim-oriented television station the couple started to counter negative images of Muslims after 9/11.

Muzzamil is in over her head.
..... a fool for a client!
Just look at what most competent Lawyers do when they go to Court - they go out and hire the best and most expensive lawyer their money can buy!
Now if anyone had an excuse to try and do it themselves, they would; and yet most do not.
Not hiring a lawyer also tells the Judge “I have no respect for your particular area of expertise and think anyone could do it competently.”
Or - he's expecting that Sharia law to kick in.
He must not want to be saved by a Jooooooooooooo lawyer.
Colin Ferguson, the Long Island Railroad killer acted as his own attorney. He had Ron Kuby as his unpaid side kick.
The killers are always convinced they are smarter than everyone else.
Chopping his wife’s head off sure did combat the negative image of Muslims!
Once someone starts to represent themselves, you never know where the defense council will beheaded.
Good one!

If some form of separation is required to satisfy that requirement, so be it.
Irony alert.
I say he’s going for his rights under religious freedom. It would be fantastic if they would televise this. I think the brain dead liberals might learn something.......or not.
I was just thinking of that cartoon recently, reflecting on how nice it was when that particular “culture” was presented as something quaint and very, very far away.
He’s sorta like a Muslim Felix Ungar in the old Odd Couple series - he was always being arrested and always defending himself without a lawyer.
