35 people have been killed in an explosion at Moscow’s Domodedovo airport according to the airport spokesperson. Up to 168 are said to have been injured in what the Investigative Committee believes to be a terror attack.

Eighty-six people have been taken to nearby hospitals, 46 of them are reported to be in critical condition. Some reports say there are foreign citizens among the victims, including those from the UK, Italy, France, Serbia and Slovakia.

FSB knew about possible terror attack – reports

Russia’s Federal Security Bureau had known about a suicide bomber in the city, but their information was incomplete, Rosbalt news agency says. Early on Monday they reportedly searched for the possible bomber, but in Zelenograd, a town in the north of Moscow. The FSB received intelligence late on Sunday, and a large group of police and special forces were moved to Zelenograd for a special operation, but with no result.

Joking aside I wouldn’t want to be a Muslim in that part of the country right about now. Whatever else you might say about Russians they are very good at crushing dissent potential or otherwise and they don’t coddle terrorists like we do stateside.

Unlike our President Putin actually has the balls to keep his country safe.

""FSB looking for three potential accomplices"

I certainly hope they don't waterboard them or put panties on their heads once they catch them.

"Unlike our President Putin actually has the balls to keep his country safe."

Putin impresses me as the kind of "hands-on" executive who would delight in personally interrogating the accomplices.

From link at post #4:

*************************EXCERPT************************************

Update VI: The Russian security service FSB says that they are now looking for three potential accomplices, and that the actions are suspected of originating with terrorists from the North Caucasus, where the Islamist separatists operate:

A criminal case has been opened into the apparent terror attack. Police are searching for three suspects in connection with the blast after watching airport security camera footage.

Three men who have been living in the Russian capital for a certain period of time reportedly took part in organizing the blast, a source told Interfax news agency. He also noted that these three were believed to be Russian North Caucasus militants and might have been somehow connected to two women, one of whom blew herself up at a practice range club in Moscow on December 31 and the other was later arrested in the city of Volgograd.

Reportedly, the FSB knew that an attack was imminent, but didn’t know where or when it would hit.

Anyone want to place bets that when the Russian police find the terrorists, they will stick them in a nice prison awaiting public trial by jury?

What? You think not? That’s uncivilized.

No argument about Zero, but I wouldn’t call what happened at the Russian airport today “safe”.

I understand they found a severed head at the airport. I bet that was the remains of the bomber. When in Iraq I saw a bomber detonate himself and the only thing left was his head as the rest of his body was vaporized. Incidentally he did not have a smile on his face—apparently he did not get his 72 virgins.

Has Barry called a beer summit yet, or offered to try the perps in NYC?

Since the Russians seem to have had some information on these accomplices (I doubt that the suicide bomber gave them that information), maybe the real reason they could not respond to this quickly enough has more to do with a constipated FSB bureaucracy.

TSA anyone?

I still would rather put my life on a plane in the hands of fellow American passengers than I would the government.

.
When or if caught you can bet that the perps wished they had fallen in American hands instead.
