(UK) Parents kicked out of council playgroup for being British

Outraged mothers spoke of their ”humiliation” today after they were kicked out of a council-funded children’s playgroup – because they were BRITISH.

Parents kicked out of council playgroup for being British

Emma Knightley, 25, and Kimberley Wildman, 27, turned up at the ‘Making Links’ playgroup with their children Imogen, 21 months, and Olivia, 18 months.

But they were stunned when organisers at the centre in St Neots, Cambs., ordered them to leave after being asked ‘what country are you from’ and they answered ”British”.

The best friends were told that only foreign mums and children are welcome at the council-funded playgroup – which they have accused of ”discrimination”.

Shop worker Emma, from St Neots, Cambs., booked a place at the playgroup six weeks ago after it was recommended by a mixed-race friend.

She said: ”The first thing I was asked about was my nationality and when I said I was British I was told we had to leave.

”She said are you not aware this is for foreign people only?

”I said I knew it was trying to integrate people into the community but didn’t realise that meant British people and their children were banned.

”I felt humiliated. It shouldn’t matter what nationality you are we shouldn’t be discriminated against.

”You wouldn’t get away with a British-only mum and children’s group.

”We want to welcome other nations to the community but turning British people away is not the way to do this.”

Trainee midwife Kimberley, also from St Neots, Cambs., chose the group because it was free – whereas other groups in the area charged £2.

She said: ”They asked me what race I was and I said British. They said I couldn’t come in. It’s ridiculous.

”Surely if this group is about making links in the community they should let all people in, regardless of race or nationality.

”It’s a real shame. I want my children to play with children from other races and integrate in the community because that stops discrimination.

”I can’t believe we were discriminated against because we are British.”

Making Links, which is based at the Priory Centre in St Neots, is funded by a £1,000 annual grant from St Neots Town Council.

The community group is staffed by church volunteers and also receives money from the Co-operative community development fund and the Open Door Church in St Neots.

According to Making Links’ website the group ”seeks to operate in the spirit of the Commission for Racial Equality”.

It’s targets include: ”bringing communities together and facilitating interaction between them”.

The website claims around 50 women attend the weekly sessions every Thursday.

It adds: ”Making Links frees them from feelings of isolation, helps them build multicultural friendships and empowers them with knowledge about the local community.

”Thus Making Links presents a friendly St Neots face to people who might otherwise be outsiders.”

Foreign parents also receive visits from police officers, access to children’s health services and a creche provided by government initiative Sure Start.

The aims of the project are to ”develop cross-cultural friendships”, ”promote cultural identity and self-esteem” and ”promote community relationships with local service providers”.

Roger Owen, administrator for Making Links, said that the group is not a ”typical” playgroup and is funded entirely for women from other nationalities.

He said: ”We believe there are plenty of other alternatives for British mothers in the town.

”We have had an issue with men turning up before and back then we told them the group is strictly for mothers so it’s nothing to do with racial discrimination.”

A spokeswoman for the Equality and Human Rights Commission, said under the Equality Act 2010 it is not unlawful to set up a group especially for a particular ethnic or national group.

Under the act discrimination based on colour is unlawful.

No, there’s a difference and hopefully it won’t be necessary to draw that out.

Yes, in the people...but the attitude of the bureaucrats who told these two women that sound scarily familiar to our own social service bureaucrats.

I guess all the local cops are out visitin foreign parents and making them feel at home....

good luck if you want to report a burgulary or home invasion in progress.

This from the county where locks on garden sheds are prohibited as burgulars may injure themselves when breaking in to steal stuff.

And don't get me started on the Tony Martin fiasco....

Anthony Edward Martin (born 1944) is a farmer from Norfolk, England, who in 1999 killed one burglar and wounded another who had both entered his home. He was convicted of murder, replaced with manslaughter on appeal, and as a result became a cause célèbre, and polarised opinion in the UK.[1]

In 1999 Martin was living in an isolated farmhouse in Emneth Hungate, Norfolk, nicknamed Bleak House. He claimed to have been burgled a total of ten times, losing £6,000 worth of furniture. Martin also complained about police inaction over the burglaries. The police reports state that multiple items and furniture were stolen such as dinner ware and a grandfather clock. The neighbours also had police reports of robbers, some believing they were the ones Martin later shot at.

On the night of 20 August 1999, two burglars – Brendon Fearon, 29, and Fred Barras, 16 – entered Bleak House.[2] When confronted, they attempted to flee through a window. Shooting in the dark, with an illegally held pump-action Winchester shotgun, Martin shot Fearon in the leg, and Barras in the back. Barras escaped through the window but died at the scene.[1]

On 10 January 2000, Fearon and Darren Bark, 33 (who had acted as the get-away driver), both from Newark-on-Trent, Nottinghamshire, admitted to conspiring to burgle Martin's farmhouse. Fearon was sentenced to three years in prison, and Bark to 30 months [2] (with an additional 12 months arising from previous offences). Fearon was released on 10 August 2001.[2]

On 23 August 1999, Martin was charged with the murder of Barras, the attempted murder of Fearon, "wounding with intent to cause injury" to Fearon, and "possessing a firearm with intent to endanger life". However, the jurors found Martin guilty of murder by a 10 to 2 majority.[5] He was sentenced to life in prison, the mandatory sentence for murder under English law.

During 2003, Fearon applied for, and received, an estimated £5,000 of legal aid to sue Martin for loss of earnings due to the injuries he had sustained.[11] However, the case was thrown into doubt when photographs were published in The Sun, showing him "cycling and climbing with little apparent difficulty"

On 28 July 2003, Martin was released after serving three years of his five-year sentence,[2] the maximum period for which he could be held following good behaviour

Bill Gates charity funds minority only college scholarships and no one protests. We are no better

http://www.nationalpolicyinstitute.org/2010/01/30/bill-gates-white-kids-not-eligible-for-my-scholarships/
Bill Gates has made his scholarship fund off limits to white teenagers. The Gates Millennium Scholarship fund is financed by a $1 Billion endowment Bill Gates made in 1999. The fund explicitly denies eligibility to white students.

“Students are eligible to be considered for a GMS scholarship if they: Are African American, American Indian/Alaska Native, Asian and Pacific Islander American, or Hispanic American;”

Not being fluent in "British-speak," (and not that interested that I'll take the time to familiarize myself therewith) I wonder if they realize that "creche" is French for "Manger," which caused me to giggle (do real men do that? lol) when considering I have serious reservations whether anyone so steeped in PC, Multiculturalism would be dispensing such a hated, taboo, verboten, CHRISTIAN, symbol to the "foreigners" who, (go ahead and call me an Islamaphobe, if you will) I am going to guess, the majority probably attend Mosques services more than they do Church ones!

The people who promote discrimiantion are the minorities. They get a special status because they are "oppressed". If people really were integrated, and if discrimination stopped, then they would lose some power. They don't want that. So ... bridge-building is bad.

So is this idiot really saying than "man" and "woman" are races?

Could you elaborate as to these ‘differences in the people’?

I really don't care about what private charities do with their money, as long as they don't receive my tax dollars. It's the same as if a church limits a scholarship to members. It's their money and they can do what they want.

I belong to the VFW. Try to go in to one of our posts if you're not a member or guest. Most often, you will be turned away.

The story concerned a playground provided and maintained by the British government which bans white Brits. Unfortunately, the Brits are not citizens; they are subjects.

I do care when Bill Gates discriminates that way. Imagine if he said no Blacks are eligible for his Gates scholarships.

Gates would never get away with that.
But he says white are not eligible and we are the people who made America what it is with some help from others. We fought WW2. Major insult in my book

Do you think Bill Gates loses sleep because you disagree with how he spends his money?

I don't agree with racial discrimination; but I refuse to get a case of the vapors over the white guilt of billionaires.
