Rep. Bachmann's response won't be aired by most television networks

Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.) might not get the national audience she'd hoped for Tuesday evening, when she delivers her response to the State of the Union address.

Only one television network — CNN — plans to air Bachmann's response to President Obama in its entirety, which she'll deliver separately from the official Republican response. She will make her remarks to the Tea Party Express, which will live-stream her speech on its website.

Where do you draw the line? Should every caucus leader get a chance to put up an official response to the SotU? Why Bachmann and not DeMint? Why not the head of the Congressional Black Caucus too?

How about official responses from actual political parties like the Libertarian Party, Constitution Party, the Greens, AIP, whatever?

Last a checked the "TEA Party" wasn't an actual political party, and it has no leaders, per se, to be speaking for it. So why should someone be afforded a position of prominence akin to one of the oldest and largest political parties in the country, just because they choose to appropriate the name of a movement?

I think I found it. Cantor dissed Bachmann. How stupid are the GOP? Who do they think they are?

There’s nothing they’d like more at CNN than to create a split in the GOP.

Ok this makes me sick. The tragedy in Az. was awful but holding hands and dissing the tea party makes me SICK!

"Amid calls for greater cooperation among members of both parties in the wake of this month's mass shooting in Tucson, Cantor noted that he and House Minority Whip Steny Hoyer (D-Md.) are planning to have lunch together tomorrow at Hoyer's invitation and said that the two may sit together during tomorrow night's address"

Why isn’t Fox airing it? Am I the only one who thinks they’ve been getting wishy washy lately.

CNN is only going to air the piece in order to rip her apart...

Oh well, the ideas Michelle will champion are winning ideas. The more people hear them, the more they're bound to enlighten.

The tea party has a caucus. The tea party with a MIX of many and Independent voters that do not whistle dixie for the GOP elected the GOP majority.

Call it Independent voters call it Tea Party. They should have a voice. I get the protocol but the GOP best stop their arrogance and stop acting like democrats. The whole point is both parties need to go or CHANGE and they didn’t seem to get the message.

The MSM plays the GOP like a fiddle....they like Conservatives being dissed, so Cantor will do it again, and again, desperate for good press.

This is how the MSM create Rinos....starve them of good press, and then give them a little with every snark and snarl to a Conservative.

There is a split in the GOP, it's called Rinos Vs. Conservatives or haven't you been paying attention.
I look forward to hearing a conservative speak on the SOTU for a change.

Fox has NEVER been a conservative news outlet. Never will be.

Screw the GOP. And the MSM can kiss my...... This won’t SPLIT us.

You can bet that HARDBALL will air Bachmann and mock her for an hour. Ryan will be all RINO kissy face and Cantor is doing lunch with Harry Reid... They all make 6 figures and don’t give a rats ass. Bchmann and Palin do. So the GOP can merge with the DNC and all go on CNN and kiss my .............

You missed my point entirely. Why the Tea Party caucus and not every other caucus in the House and Senate? Why not the other national political parties?

Rep. Bachmann is in the House as a Republican. The Republican Party already has an official response scheduled with Rep. Ryan. If the networks cover Bachmann's response, then why couldn't the CBC ask for "equal time"?

I'll ask the pertinent question again: Where does it end?

A news outlet should air news. If they think their viewers are interested in something, you would imagine they would air it. That’s where they should draw the line. It’s why we mostly think the MSM has an agenda, because they do not air news their viewers might be interested in, but because they show the *news* they want their viewers to see.

Just fyi, parties aren’t mentioned in the constitution. George Washington thought they were a bad way to do business. And if the repubs were doing their job,,, they wouldn’t get challenges.
The tryouts, instead of claiming divine right, would do well to wonder why so many people feel they need Bachmann to speak to their opinions.

*Where do you draw the line? *

There should be no “responses” at all. If you want to give a speech, win the office.
