Ok lets start a list of who GOP members should sit by:

1. Which Dim should Joe Wilson foist himself on?

2. How about Tim Scott?

3. Marco Rubio?

4. How about Allen West?

5. Jim DeMint?

etc.

This would be funny, if I didn't know how to pronounce the Speaker's name....

You are right. The people here who worry about it probably spend way too much time watching and worrying about what MSMediots say. The rest of us mostly ignor MSMediots and the SOTU speech for that matter.

“There are two issues at stake here.”

“...herd instinct”

“They look like losers despite the fact that they won.”

You are correct. Thus, the IMAGE being presented takes on a new strategic meaning, which the adoring, mindless press can further advance.

Good analysis! I had not thought sufficiently in depth on this.

I don’t see strength anywhere.

Nor would you ever, with anyone.

Do you know WHERE this idea of sitting together originated?

To be honest, I prefer the republicans give a solidified front and sit together. Or, let all the RINO’s sit with the dems so everyone will know their true colors.

But, Jim DeMint and Harry Reid need to sit together if Cantor and Pelosi sit together.

Will Cantor also be jumping up and down like “Jack-in-the-Box” every time Obama opens his mouth?

Pelosi will refuse this invitation with disdain, exposing this for the embarrassing farce that it is.

You don't see any strength in the GOP either Sam...wishing it does not make it so.

I see strength in everyday Americans..the way they stood up to their reps in town halls, and were pilloried for it by GOP officeholders and GOP pundits.

Then everyday Americans created (on their own) the Tea Party protests. And were NEVER defended from charges of racism and violence by GOP officeholders and GOP pundits, who instead lectured them being careful with what they WROTE ON THEIR SIGNS!

Everyday Americans, Palin, and a handful of Conservative hosts on radio and TV, and a few officeholders have been battling the left, NOT the RNC.

They are a sick party...with some kind of pathology akin to battered wife syndrome...their decision making depends entirely on pleasing their abusers...the Democrats and the press.

Rubio is sitting with Nelson.

The GOP is trying desperately to please the media...again.

Look, we’re scraping along the iceberg right now.

You want to crash in and shoot anyone on the bridge of the titanic who doesn’t turn the wheel hard right.

I want to run belowdecks and shut all the watertight doors. Stop the bleeding as is. What sank the titanic is that she kept filling successive compartments.

We can work together at the same time, but if we only do what you’re saying, we’re still going to sink.

Absolutely.

It is Obama's attempt to dilute the opposition...to eliminate any moral support from those who might hoot and holler. The Dem's are trying to separate the "trouble makers" and the Republicans are stupid if they don't see it for what it is.

http://www.politicsdaily.com/2011/01/24/sen-mark-udall-aisle-crossing-advocate-for-the-state-of-the-un/

Sen. Mark Udall, Aisle-Crossing Advocate for the State of the Union Address

He’s the son of a congressman who once ran for president, the nephew of a former Interior secretary, an outdoor athlete who has featured rock climbing in his political ads.

And Colorado Democratic Sen. Mark Udall is also the force behind the effort to mix up the seating at Tuesday’s State of the Union address.

The push to work across the aisles is nothing new for Udall, who has made cooperating with others a theme of his campaigns. He began his political career as a state lawmaker in 1997 and, after a single two-year term, was narrowly elected to the U.S. House from Colorado’s 2nd Congressional District. In 2008, he won his U.S. Senate seat.

Here’s the lowdown:

The legacy: Mark’s late father, Morris “Mo” Udall, represented part of Phoenix in the U.S. House from 1961 through 1991, and ran for president in 1976. (Disclosure: As a 17-year-old Iowan, I caucused for him.) Mark Udall’s uncle (and Mo’s brother), Stewart Udall, held the Arizona congressional seat before Mo did.....

(tons of other articles on Google when he first announced his suggestion)

Yes, we are in a pickle, and have no choice right now but to work together.

But, you must concede at some point that the DECADES of running belowdecks have not been successful, as evidenced by our 14 Trillion in debt and a Federal Gov that is still growing.

Meaning more and more Americans and States need the Feds to survive, and need the Government for employment.

Meaning Conservative politics is dead, because no candidate in their right mind will campaign on taking away a citizen’s job, healthcare, retirement, home, livelihood.

So how are we not sunk already?

The best reason I've read for this nonsense, Democrats know appearance is far more important than substance in our society. The image on TV of Republicans being scattered through out the audience instead of a block is going to reflect more favorably on the One, as if most agree with him (which may honestly be the case).

As far as Cantor, why doesn't he hold hands with Pelosi or let her sit on his lap?

I think I'm going to be ill.

Pelosi said no:

*** UPDATE *** Pelosi has declined Cantor’s invitation to sit together at the State of the Union Address, saying that she has already arranged to sit with Rep. Roscoe Bartlett, R-Md.

In a tweet, Pelosi said, “I thank @GOPLeader for his #SOTU offer, but I invited my friend Rep. Bartlett from MD yesterday & am pleased he accepted.”
