Orion Workers Excited About Presidential Visit Updated: Jan 24, 2011 6:13 PM CST

By Emily Matesic

Despite the Packers' victory in the NFC Championship on Sunday, President Obama, whose allegiance to the Chicago Bears is well-known, is still planning to visit Manitowoc on Wednesday.

For employees at Orion Energy Systems, the president's visit is a once-in-a-lifetime experience, especially since he'll be recognizing the innovative work they accomplish.

"This is something we never forget and will be very good, and we believe he is always behind new technology," Ahmad Abubulela said.

Orion may be a leader in green technology but, as one employee put it, workers are "tickled pink" that President Obama is coming for a visit.

"I'm excited and honored that we're going to have his presence here in the plant, and I think it's a wonderful thing for us and great thing for Manitowoc County," Michael Fasse said.

"First you don't believe it, and boy, after that it was just super. For little Manitowoc to have the president come, everyone is on high," Shirley Lensmeyer said.

While very few details about the president's trip are being made public, we know the president will be touring the facility, meeting with employees before addressing the workforce the night after his State of the Union address.

With his visit expected to last more than an hour, there's a lot of preparation being done on the production floor.

"We've been cleaning and organizing stuff and to make it look more organized for him. We're trying hard to please him," Marisol DeBauche said.

If given the opportunity to meet with the president one-on-one, some employees tell us they'd just talk to him about everyday things, while others say they have some tough questions they're looking for answers to.

"Especially what I'd like to know, for people like our ages, what the future is going to be when we're looking for retirement, because the Baby Boomers are going to be taking the last of the Social Security," Lensmeyer said.

"Everyone here is really excited. I haven't heard a single person say, 'I don't like this thing or that.' They're like, he's coming, let's do it," Greg Barrett said.

No matter what happens during his visit, employees at Orion are just anxious to meet their head of state.

I’m guessing this is “green technology” subsidized by the taxpayers.

Sounds like the whole plant has boners over the Thief-in Chief’s visit.

I hope they put paper towels or absorbent mats down under those people.

That floor’s liable to get mighty slick during Obozo’s visit.

I mean really. Are people's lives that devoid of substance that they have a near orgasmic experience because the president, or some celebrity, visits?

I wish there was a way to tell how many Oprah viewers there are in this location. You know, the fat, middle-aged women who live by every word that comes out of Oprah's mouth and gives their life meaning.

At least these synchophants have a reason.

I doubt their “green” bullshit could stand on its own without the Kenyan subsidizing them, via theft from OTHER areas of the economy.

By the way, economically speaking, this is the way ALL government “incentives” work.

No exceptions.

Democrats hope Obama shakes the Wisconsin blues
SCOTT BAUER, Associated Press Scott Bauer, Associated Press Mon Jan 24, 5:56 pm ET

MADISON, Wis. – Few states handed Democrats a bigger defeat in the midterm elections than Wisconsin, and few rebuffed President Obama so completely. Obama visited frequently during the campaign, including once in the final weeks for a major rally, only to have Republicans carry away a Senate seat, the governorship and both houses of the Legislature. But he is returning Wednesday after his State of Union address to launch a new message and to start over with a state critical to his future.

I was wondering how much the taxpayer is providing the fraudulent company? I have never heard of a “Green” company that is not receiving massive amounts of taxpayer funding.

Maybe some of the folks in WI don’t follow the news in California, but if their green company follows the path of another Obamao spotlighted green (and heavily taxpayer subsidized) company , i.e. Solyndra, they might want to be getting their resumes updated.
Details on Solyndra’s “success” after Zero’s visit last year:

Manitowoc is actually closer to Sheboygan than it is to Green Bay.

You might have well as linked it to Madison or Milwaukee at that rate...and I think he was slated to go there long before the results of last weeks NFC championship game.
