Obama to propose spending ‘freeze’ in SOTU (Wants to lock in his extreme spending and add more)

Only, like the running gag in the Princess Bride, that word does not mean what you think it means.

Pursuing a path of deficit reduction and government reform, President Obama will tonight in his State of the Union address call for a ban on earmarks and he will propose an overall budget freeze, ABC News has learned….

The president will propose some new spending in certain areas that address the speech’s theme of “How We Win the Future”: innovation, education and infrastructure. But those increases will be proposed as part of an overall budget freeze, which given the annual rate of growth is often seen in Washington, DC, budgeting as a cut.

The earmark ban is fine, but it’s hardly Obama’s idea (and as a senator, he was a champion earmarker himself).  Overall he’s proposing to lock in the extreme spending he has already piled up, and adding a little bit more, with empty promises to cut elsewhere but not defining where, and calling that a “freeze” in spending.  Sorry, no sale.

Since the Democrats think this is such a great idea, and they also think Bill Clinton was such a great president, let’s freeze spending alright....at the level of Bill Clinton’s last year in office, 2000.

How much more money will be spent on education? Our kids can’t even read or write. High Schools in some areas only graduate about 35% of the students. They use to graduate 95% of students. Companies are moving out of some areas because they can’t find employees that can even fill out a job application form, let alone do the required job or have the ability to learn the job. We need to take education away from the Federal government and turn it back to the local communities and get rid of the unions.

This is like an alchoholic lush agreeing to not increase his drinking levels but agreeing to keep drinking at his current level.

Ya that makes a lotta sense, that outta cure the problem (snicker snicker). And the media would report that this is one valiant brave alchoholic while at the same time criticizing and slamming those who insist that the lush should quit drinking altogether to solve his problem.

Good. We’ll only see small government after the defaults and repudiations of debt. Spoiled, lazy, gluttonous people can only be forced to stop their spending ways and won’t do it themselves. The sooner, the better.
