A state-level plan in Arizona to require presidential candidates to document their eligibility to occupy the Oval Office is approaching critical mass, even though it has just been introduced.
The proposal from state Rep. Judy Burges, who carried a similar plan that fell short last year only because of political maneuvering, was introduced yesterday with 16 members of the state Senate as co-sponsors.
It needs only 16 votes in the Senate to pass.
In the House, there are 25 cosponsors, with the need for only 31 votes for passage, and Burges told WND that there were several chamber members who confirmed they support the plan and will vote for it, but simply didn't want to be listed as co-sponsors.

States' challenge to Obama approaches critical mass Arizona eligibility demand already has support to pass Senate
Bill requires long form birth certificate.
“The Arizona bill also requires attachments, “which shall be sworn to under penalty of perjury,” including “an original long form birth certificate that includes the date and place of birth, the names of the hospital and the attending physician and signatures of the witnesses in attendance.”
Bill also says...can’t have dual citizenship.
I think that if Rush and Hannity are now covering it, that it HAS hit critical mass.
I confess that I am one of those that way back in 2008 during the election would say that maybe the birthers are right, but good luck getting legs on the story. It has taken long enough, but it looks like the birthers will be vindicated in the long run.
So I would like to first, apologize to the long term birthers and second, ask for permission to join their ranks. I am hoping I get the T-Shrit.
Welcome Aboard!!!
There IS precedent for this -- in the '90s, Chuck Schumer introduced legislation that went back into people's past and, if they were EVER convicted of any type of domestic violence, their gun rights were, from that moment on, GONE. Didn't matter if you were military or LEO, GONE. People's careers were OVER because their gun rights were GONE.
Did I say GONE????
So there IS precedent!!!!! I think Barry should be included.
Never again should a fraud of questionable background and loyalties be allowed near the presidency.
You are fearful that it is true because The BIG LIE was so egregious that no-one would possibly try it. google “The Big Lie” and Hitler.

Waiting to find out that one of the states has actually done it is nerve-wracking. I just want to log onto FR one day and find out it’s a done deal. Yes, I’m supporting the effort here in GA. But I just don’t know what’s so hard or controversial about it. Why is the process taking so long?
That would likely be unconstitutional, as there is no requirement that a president have been born in a hospital.
As a birther from the start in 2008, I welcome you to the fold.
(that was a great apology too, a good skill to have)
“I think that if Rush and Hannity are now covering it, that it HAS hit critical mass”
I agree...this nonsense has gone on for too long. Rise up America, you have been fooled by this usurper.
Looks Like a safe bet AZ is going to pull the trigger!
He’e the one that would look like an idiot if he pulled it out now after spending $2mil to keep it hidden.
Obviously , 100 years ago Reagen and Kennedy were not born in a hospital, but they had witnesses that documented their birth, just as Obama has. He just needs to call the Pimp that has the documents.
From your lips—let it be so. The day one state, be it AZ or any other, passes such an eligibility bill is the day I will finally rest easy.
It would be especially sweet, though, if AZ did it. Barry essentially declared war on the entire state for daring to undercut his No Borders policy. How poetic if AZ is the one that comes back around to bite him in the butt.
Karma, Barry—it’s what’s on tap for 2012.
