According to a copy of Thompson's contract, he was paid a severance of more than $283,902 -- the same amount as his 2010-11 salary -- when he retired in December after 15 years with the district, 6News' Kara Kenney reported...

Well, it's only making us in the private sector mad... and we're going to be in the minority soon the way things are going.

Are you proposing that the Governor seize control of a local school district?

That's not very Conservative of you!

LOL, are you proposing the state has no jurisdiction, in cases such as Bell, California and in this school district, where the public trust is being violated.

Township school districts are sacred in Indiana. Bell California is a hellhole at best, and most of the time it's a surprise they can even find someone to serve on a public governing body.

You should read the background story first ~ the REPLACEMENT does not have the same goody bag.

No one is claiming any of this was done unlawfully BTW.

... and we're going to be in the minority soon the way things are going.

That situation can't last long, unless someone has found a way around the laws of physics.

Public service might as well be a disservice to the public.

http://www.nwitimes.com/news/local/lake/article_3ad41c3b-ab5e-52ea-be97-699a7fd8622c.html This is a fairly comprehensive discussion of superintendent salaries in Indiana.

Now if education were properly privatized these guys would make even more.

Privatized education should remove the tax part and it would then be a free market. I doubt the income levels would be that big, H1B visa holders work cheap. But that is a good ideal let the parents of children pay for their education and stop charging non parents. I’m with you no taxes for schools, damn good ideal.

So you believe in social engineering and think that you can spend the money better than the liberals. I think that is what people refer to as a rino.

Several problems ~ I've never been a registered Democrat. Never voted for a Democrat. Never held public office as a Democrat.

It is therefore impossible for me to have ever been or ever be a RINO.

The term you are grasping at is LEFTWINGTARD. It's perfectly adequate and clearly expresses what you mean.

I'm not one of those either.

You'll have to learn how to read these responses IN CONTEXT otherwise it's going to be my shoe toe in your teeth from here on out, capice?!

Latest news is the Wayne Township school board members say the former Superintendent TRICKED THEM into agreeing to contractual terms they didn't read ~ in some papers he put on the table during negotiations and votes on approval.

Right! I believe that. Too stupid to be on a school board yet I'm sure they figure they know what the chilluns' need.

That's the problem ~ and the alligator gar who swam up White River to snag some bluegills ~ he's for real ~ but we know his kind ~ and it's UP AGAINST THE WALL.

More interesting the Supertendent of adjacent Indianapolis Public Schools put in a reorganization plan and asked for raises for several of his assistants (and among them was his own son who was getting boosted to $90,000 a couple of years out of college but he's a heck of a motivator at Tech highschool ~ sure, right).

That's TWO superintendents with questionable questionables!

No doubt there's more.

I'd think about now the State Police would begin showing up at their homes to help them pack some bags and get out of town!
