* TALIBAN SPOKESMAN: 'Anyone who knows about Islam knows that stoning is in the Koran, and that it is Islamic law. There are people who call it inhuman - but in doing so they insult the Prophet. They want to bring foreign thinking to this country'

WARNING GRAPHIC CONTENT

Horrific video footage has emerged of Taliban insurgents stoning a couple to death for alleged adultery in northern Afghanistan.

Hundreds of villagers can be seen on the video standing around as the woman, Siddqa, is buried up to her waist in a four foot hole in the ground.

Two mullahs pass sentence before the crowd begins to throw rocks at her head and body as she desperately tries to crawl free.

I think the Assyrian and Chaldean Christian Community, the remnants of the pre-Islamic inhabitants of that area, might disagree.

They are being driven from their homes by the government we helped finance and which Americans died for. A government which recognizes Islam as the official state religion - just a few short steps from Sharia.

Recently they voted with rest of OPEC to keep production at its current level, despite the damage done to our economy.

Muslims can never be trusted by non-Muslims and seldom by fellow Muslims.

That’s the problem with believing everything you read. The government has actually been trying to protect them. But when they have trouble trying to even protect their own hides, it ain’t always successful.

The government has actually been trying to protect them.

If that’s the case, they haven’t been too successful. The numbers there are dwindling.

Do you have a link about that?

Yeah. What’s frightening is that they are in positions of power. They need to be in mental wards.

I know people aren’t supposed to draw parallels to Vietnam, but the fact of the matter is the Taliban have a lot of popular support (often more than the central government). They also don’t require much to field fighters, and have nothing but time on their hands (and on their side). What it would take to beat them nobody would ever allow our troops to do. The fact is that in much of the countryside the Taliban move freely, and the central government is only propped up by our troops; it has little authority, and has negotiated with the Taliban (even threatened to side with them) because it understands they have a role there.

And people are still asking why we are there.

I am one of them. We arent going to fix this. We need to protect ourselves from this.

The Afghani’s kicked Taliban Ass and it was not that long ago. The Afghani’s hate Karzai, they know he is corrupt to the core. They of course roam freely because if they can’t they make a statement by killing villagers. And as for Karzai to threaten to allow them as part of the government was all for him retaining power. Remove him and put a strong leader in there and the tide will turn.

And we tolorate these... abominations?

There is no love in Islam, only hate. Islam is the religion without love.

I would feel sorry for Muslims but they refuse to turn away from the evil incarnation that they call their religion. They’ll burn in Hell for their actions...

I believe the US removed most Al Qaida elements from Afghanistan; the Taliban are a different story. Unlike many of the Al Qaida fighters, most of the Taliban ARE Afghans, and the government is unable to suppress them. I think Westerners are deceived into thinking Afghans are just like us, or want to be except for these repressive clerics & such; the fact is that Islam is a central part of their lives (even when they live in Western countries). Since dissent isn’t tolerated, they toe the line even when they are in a “safe” environment. They are Muslims, plain & simple, and as long as that is the case that culture will pervade any environment they settle. It has for more than a millenium; there is no reason to expect it to change now.

I’d like to dig up the “prophet” and fed his rotting corpse to a herd of swine.

What a horrible thing to do to a pig. ;)

You can’t feel bad for them, indeed. They choose to stick with it after a certain age and they know what they’re doing.

It’s the only major ‘religion’ without the golden rule. There is no concept of ‘free will’ or ‘do unto others’ in it. It’s the communism of religions, all about me me me and personal material gain in this life and the afterlife.

It’s stalinism with a godhead. There’s nothing about it that’s not an abomination. You can’t say enough bad things about it.
