It's just it took me a dozen posts to suddenly realize that IF you weren't THERE, middle class USA, back then .... 40s/50s/early60s, and you weren't a little girl or a teenaged female.... perhaps you'd have NO idea what the spin/gossip would be whenever ANY gal 'suddenly' up & disappeared and family talk was that "She's gone to visit her aunt."

It's all so .... pre-Roe vs. Wade, and when plenty of teens suddenly went on long jaunts to distant relatives.

CANADA and MEXICO were the actual destinations....
