President Obama's storytellers re cently launched a White House blog series called "Voices of Health Reform," where "readers can meet average Americans already benefiting from the health reform law." I propose a new series: "Voices of Health Reform Waivers," where taxpayers can meet all the politically connected unions benefiting from exclusive get-out-of-ObamaCare passes -- after squandering millions of their workers' dues to lobby for the law from which they are now exempt.
At the end of last year, the Department of Health and Human Services had granted some 222 temporary waivers to businesses small and large, insurers, labor and other organizations that offer affordable health insurance or prescription-drug coverage with limited benefits. On Wednesday, the agency quietly updated its online list, which now reveals a whopping total of 729 ObamaCare escapees -- in addition to four states, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Ohio and Tennessee -- who collectively cover about 2.1 million enrollees.
At least one eyebrow-raising waiver recipient -- the nationalized-health-care-promoting Robert Wood Johnson Foundation -- has direct ties to the White House. Obama health-care czar Nancy-Ann DeParle sits on the foundation's board of trustees.
And one-fourth of all the waivers (182) so far have gone to Big Labor groups.

We just negotiated a new contract in December. We will be keeping our health care coverage intact as it was.
I would call our coverage as an "Impala" plan, not a "Cadallac" coverage at all.
We have been paying $14 per week with a $20 copay on office visits and $10 on scripts. Not bad.
Soon we'll be paying $40 per week, copay will go up I'm not sure what it will go up to, you see, these brilliant union brothers and sisters of mine agreed to a contract that is not yet written on paper.
Man the union way is a wonderful thing.
I pay $1900 a month for health, not including dental which is another bill. Most people i know pay from 1k to 2k a month. As you can see, even $100 a week would be tiny in comparison.
Without waivers who would support this? I for one would like an investigation as to whether any of these waivers were discussed before the bill passed.
It was reported that big insurance companies and big pharma met in private with Zer0 beforehand. It isn’t hard to imagine that favoritism was promised in exchange for support.
The union coworkers next to me say we have to have obamacare because the healthcare costs are "to high".
My mother-in-law buys her own healthcare as do others in my family.
I consider myself blessed to have what I have. My coworkers, however, complain of our cost.
Maybe you aren't aware that most of us, upon retirement, have to purchase our own health plan until Medicare age. The large majority of people, after leaving the work place, never have dental, vision and hearing coverage. Of course, old age is when those become major expenses - hearing aids, dental implants/dentures, etc.
Why do you think the ability to grant waivers was included in the first place?
If the law is so great, it should not require a waiver system.
I play bunco with a gal that is married to a county employee. The other night she was griping because the county now wants them to pay $400 a month instead of the current $200 per month for a family of 5. I told her.....what a deal! She looked at me like I was nuts so I explained to her how mine and hubbies insurance alone had run over $1200 a mnth. She shut up real quick when she found out she was going to get no sympathy.
Not what i meant. Those meetings were pretty well documented in the media. Far more interested in whether say SEIU met up with the white house and said something to the effect of,”We’ll need some waivers for our support since many of our members will be hurt by this law.”
$14 a week? You’ve got to be kidding me.
Do you have any idea what the rest of us pay?
Sure as hell sounds like you have a Cadillac plan to me!
How about Andy Stern’s dozens of visits to the WH?
I’m sure they were doing more than shooting the shiite.
Issa hearings, why did you support Obamacare and get a waiver?
What in the world gave you the idea I supported Obamacare and got a waiver?
Thats exactly the sort of meeting i’m referring to. Was anything promised
With everyone opting out of zerocare sounds like the only thing left of zerocare will be a tax on all Americans for something that doesnot exist and they have another slush fund to play with.
I pay over $400 a year for “Under-insured and Un-insured “ motorists in my state. What makes one think we will not pay more and more for the parasites to have healthcare?
Yep. Funny to see GM employees moan about their plan. Some of us have to do without.
While those of us who are Senior Citizens are stuck on Medicare, which pays the doctor so little they don’t want us as patients.
