there is not 1, not 1 policeman in the whole of Cairo to be found.
After Obama was elected, he took a hands off approach to the existing governments in the ME and lost the initiative for reform. Now Obama is seen as supporting the dictatorships because he let up on them for 2 years.
Direct calls to Mubarak should have been done before Mubarak's party headquarters and all their offices were burned to the ground.
Too little, too late, Obama's inexperience is really showing.
so no change.....
Egypt has no plans for early elections, says speaker of parliament - Reuters via al Arabiya TV
That’ll work for the protestors..... not
3 Policemen are now reported to be shot dead.
The Army is now in control and they don't have any crowd control means other than live bullets. This will degrade as the bodies are carried throught the streets.
Interesting comparison. I don’t believe I have read where the Knights of Columbus are murderous b*stards. But hey, I am not catholic, so I don’t know. To compare islamic principles to christian ethics is a bit of a stretch. It is almost always our mistake to try to force Occidental culture on Oriental culture—they just can’t be compared and they are like oil and water—they don’t mix.
Al Jazeera reporting the protestors turing on the army as they feel betrayed.
Mubarak will wind up being ‘Ceausescued.’
The "Sons of Norway" are mainstream in Minnesota but not in Juarez.
We have to get past rigid semantics if we are going to look at foreign societies objectively.
That's the point, look at the revolution from the Egyptians point of view to figure out what they may do next.
if anyone really wants to understands what would happen under an islamic Egypt them read this.

Frightening.
So was Iran.
Frankly I don't know whether this is going to be good or bad. I suspect this is going to destabilize the entire region.
Mubarak may have been a ruthless tyrant, but he was OUR ruthless tyrant. The only way to run an Arab country or any country that does not have a strong Judeo/Christian tradition that is shared by the populace, is to be ruthless.
Whoever takes the reins of Egypt in the future is going to have to be ruthless or he is going to be sleeping with the fishes. That's the way the world works. So whatever the outcome, I don't think it is going to be good in the short term and may very well be disastrous in the long term.
All belief systems are capable of justifying murder.
There is a strong tendency on FR to see ideas as absolute, and to read too much into the comments of others.
It is working in Turkey. I think it can work, if more people are included in governing, generally the more moderate the behavior.
Ruthless strongmen only guarantee corruption and eventual instability and the potential for future Irans.
It’s not only an outrageous comparison, it’s a bigoted comparison.
I don’t buy this for a moment. It may be a popular uprising but it’s fueled and promoted by radical Islam who are sick of Egypt’s peace with Israel and of it’s lax enforcement of
Sharia law.
After the Beer Hall Putsch, the Nazis went ‘legit’ as well.
Obama and his Secretary of State has always been behind the Muslim Brotherhood and muslim terrorists in general.
FEBRUARY 10, 2005 : (EGYPTIAN SHEIKH OMAR ABDEL RAHMAN’S LAWYER, ATTORNEY LYNNE STEWART {see NLG, GEORGE SOROS}, IS CONVICTED OF PROVIDING MATERIAL AID TO TERRORISTS——see 1993 WTC BOMBING, NY LANDMARKS PLOT, 20090909 ASSASSINATION OF AFGHAN NORTHERN ALLIANCE LEADER AHMED MASSOUD) New York City attorney Lynn Stewart, who was convicted last week of providing material aid to terrorists and lying to federal investigators while representing jailed terrorist kingpin, Sheik Omar Abdel Rahman. —— “SOROS FUNDED CONVICTED TERROR LAWYER,” Newsmax, 2/17/05
I think it might be tactics of the old regime to discredit the protest for democracy and freedom whats happening now trying to get people home.
Report from a doctor at Tahrir “the army were beating looters at the museum. They stopped when the looters said they were police.
No kidding. 9/11 hijacker Mohammed Atta was a “moderate” Egyptian member of the Muslim Brotherhood. Real bunch of “moderates” these Egyptians are.
OCTOBER 6, 1981 : (EGYPT : ISLAMIC JIHAD ASSASSINATES SADAT IN CAIRO; AMONG THOSE ROUNDED UP IN RESPONSE IS AL-ZAWAHIRI, WHO WOULD GO ON TO BECOME A LEADER IN AL QAEDA -— See “BLIND SHEIKH” OMAR ABDUL RAHMAN, AL-GAMAL AL-ISLAMIYA, LYNNE STEWART) On October 6, 1981, men from group called Islamic Jihad, disguised as soldiers, assassinated Sadat in Cairo as he was viewing a military parade. Hundreds of Islamic militants were rounded up. Among them was a 30-year-old medical doctor, Ayman al-Zawahiri, who was sentenced to three years imprisonment for possessing an unlicensed pistol. He was from a wealthy family. From an early age, he had been involved with the Muslim Brotherhood, and at the time of his arrest he had been a low ranking member of an organization called Jihad. He served three years in prison. He was recorded by television cameras shouting angrily in English from behind prison bars, saying ‘’We are Muslims who believe in our religion. We’re trying our best to establish an Islamic state and Islamic society.’’ Zawahiri would eventually to be the leader of a group called al-Qaeda, to be well known in late 2001. . - “ISLAM, THE MIDDLE EAST AND TERROR, TO 1988 : WAHHAB AND SAUDI ARABIA “ .by Frank E. The protestors are now spreading the owrd apparently after finding out a lot of the “supposed” looters are the missing police.
Barely. Turkey is kinda like Iran in the late 1960's. Things are not getting better there for non-Muslims. Everywhere in the Islamic world there is a movement to destroy Christianity and Judaism. Even in Iraq and especially in Afghanistan.
For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places, EPH 6:12.
The battle lines have been drawn. The dogs of war have been released.
