Democrat Rep slanders America to the Arab world (Moran aka Moron)

Democratic representative Jim Moran of Virginia went the Arab television network Alhurra and blamed his party's November election losses on racism. I offer representative Moran's
statement that "a lot of people in this country ... don't want to be governed by an African-American" as proof that liberal politicians have lost the policy argument. Liberals have a curious habit of smearing their opponents when reality doesn't support their position. The more facts don't jibe with their position the stronger the calls are of racism or hate speech. This tactic has been used from
Tea Party to
Sarah Palin and has been around since Reagan tried to get
Bork onto the Supreme Court.
According to
Politico, representative Moran isn't backing away from his statement. Moran's spokeswoman, Anne Hughes provided this response;
"With nearly 1,000 identified hate groups in the U.S. and recent studies showing a majority of Americans believe racism is still widespread against African-Americans, it is no secret that our country has and continues to struggle with racial equality," Hughes said. "The congressman was expressing his frustration with this problem and the role it played in the last election. Rather than ignore this issue or pretend it isn't there, the congressman believes we are better off discussing it in order to overcome it."
Playing slime ball politics is reprehensible enough when it's done during an election year, in your own country. Moran sinks to new lows by peddling this tripe for foreign consumption. My guess is that if he made these statements to all but the most sympathetic domestic audience he would be roundly booed. Instead the purveyor of
falsehoods has found a sympathetic ear in a region known for it's
wild and outlandish anti US conspiracy theories.
Note to Representative Jim Moran of Virginia. Here is a small laundry list of items that have nothing to do with race and are at the very core of why the Democrats did so poorly on election day;
Race has nothing to do with the Democrats' recent electoral defeat, but a lack of performance does. With nearly 1 in 5 Americans out of work, you'd think a Democratic congressman would have better things to do besides engage in cheap political grandstanding for an Arab audience. Add Moran's latest smear while his colleagues are calling for civility as another reason that Democrats will continue to do badly.

Thomas Lifson adds:
Democrats in the House and Senate ought to be pressured to denounce Moran's calumny. Where are all the pious civility advocates? If he were a Republican, they would hound GOP officials for such a denunciation.

By what the corrupt (pay to play) Jim Moran said, if his ridiculous claim were true Obama would never have been elected two years earlier.

How does Moran explain the Allen West victory in Florida?

Blacks in Africa rejected white politicians are they “racist?” The CBC rejected a white applicant who was certifiable enough ideology wise but was rejected on account of “race” so is the CBC “racist?”

It’s a mystery to me how Jim Moron could get elected anywhere in Virginia. I don’t think he’s sane enough even for Northern California to elect him.

Good question, he doesn’t want to talk about Allen West.
Wish we had many more like Congressman West.

One local radio announcer here in DC calls Moran “Moron.” The acutal morons are those in arlington and alexandria who keep re-electing him.

You’re absolutely right. I don’t understand the voters reelecting a corrupt turkey like him but then he had a buddy in PA that was the same.

These liberals are getting harder to stomach. 92% of blacks voted for Obama around 40% of whites.This idiot like Obama goes to a foreign land and criticizes us and we afford him the best of everything.He is less than a piece of crap and anyone voting for him including family is no better. I would disown any relative of mine that thought like that in the past but with folks like him representing America I could not hate a terrorist for killing him. May the good Lord forgive me.

It breaks my heart when I see what has happened to that area. I was born in Alexandria, and then it was a conservative, wonderful place to grow up. Then the new intelligentsia and yuppies started moving into Old Town, the working class families were forced out by high taxes and low morals. Heck, even Inter-Arms was headquarted there.
Now, Jim Moron is a perfect example of the majority there. He can slap a 10 year old kid around and still get re-elected. Sad...so sad.

What district does Jim Moron represent? I didn't think there were any in Virginia that would elect a nutcase like him...

Moran serves the 8th CD, Alexandria. Haven’t been to Alexandria in 45 or so years and I’m sure it’s changed a lot since then, I know I have. :)

Its a mystery to me how Jim Moron could get elected anywhere in Virginia. I read somewhere that he always wins by 50%. It's obviously a very sick and twisted little corner of Virginia. Some areas are just beyond redemption. Take the 5th district of Minnesota, for example. In the big year that saw huge Republican gains and the end of Jim Oberstar up north in the 8th district, Keith Elison, congressman from CAIR, won by forty points.
The good thing about results like this (and Pelosi's 85% victory) is that it concentrates many idiot dem votes into districts where they are wasted. The votes Pelosi gets could nearly elect two dems to congress.
