"You want to see some pissed off people, when gas gets to the magic $4.00 a gallon people will react.
I remember it being said during the Arab oil embargo of the 1970s that the American people would "rise up" and overthrow the U.S. Govt. if gasoline prices ever reached $1 a gallon...we quietly waited in gas lines for hours, just to get it at $1.19, and were limited to $5 maximum purchase by rationing. No, you'll see pissed off people when such things as a loaf a bread sell for $10, or a half gallon of milk for $25, if it's to be found at all. That will happen as gasoline goes beyond $5 per gallon in a span of months, and it starts hitting folks in the belly. When a trip to the grocery store means returning with only a few potatoes, or one scrawny chicken, and you can't afford to heat or light your house. That's when governments get toppled.
