The Media, Reagan and Obama

As we approach the 100th anniversary of the birth of Ronald Reagan, he has been in the news once again. One way he has been used is to boost the image of Barack Obama.

Some presidents have been used to degrade the image of others. Herbert Hoover was a convenient whipping boy to tar various Republicans through the years. Nixon was the epitome of evil in the White House. The fate of Ronald Reagan has been a curious one. The punditry that savaged him before, during, and after his years in office are now trying to burnish Barack Obama's image by comparing the two Presidents.

By his own admission, Reagan never did drugs in his life. By his own admission, Obama smoked marijuana and crack, repeatedly.

Reagan fought the Soviet Union when it tried to trample its citizens’ rights. Obama fought Arizona when it tried to protect its citizens’ rights.

Reagan was always happy to share details of his early life with anyone who asked. Obama hires law teams to fight anyone who asks about his early life.

Sorry TIME and other leftist media, I’m just not seeing the equivalency.

I was not interested in politics at all during Reagans reign, unfortunately. But I had three children, bought my first house and started a very successful business, all during his 8 years as President. My family was rewarded very well with his policies and I did not even know it.

All I knew about Reagan is a lot of people in the press hated him. Started waking up when Bush1 ran for his second term. The first time I ever voted was for Perot in 91? Yep I am one of those Americans disgusted with politics that put the most disgusting man in office, Clinton, sorry.

I was a tea partyer long ago, just didn't know it.
