Two things to note.

This is a CITY uprising. The farmers etc are not evident.

Bad development when they turn on each other. Means the cops and the Army will have to pick sides.

“Tahrir” means “liberty.” Kind of ironic, eh?

Who to root for? Hmmmmm ...

I'm for whoever is protecting the museums and ancient sites.

I'm for anyone who isn't going to slaughter the Coptic Christians and Jews.

I would imagne people are finally sobering up to the reality that if the Islamic crazies take over, life will get FAR WORSE after Mubarak is gone.

Grass is not always greener on the other side of the fence.

I’ve wondered about the rest of the country too- though we’ve seen a lot of this in Alexandria as well...but as far as the country goes- no media there- who knows?

How soon is it before nightfall. I predict that after the sun goes down many of the members of the Egyptian Army will take off their uniforms and join the pro-Mubarak mob. Thats when the real headcracking will start. I hope that we've got all of the Americans out of Egypt by now.

Begging Obama to intervene? They have gone nuts.

He surely has some support. Some people benefit from his regime and stand to lose if the Muslim Brotherhood gains power.

There was a guy on the Quinn and Rose radio show this morning with very detailed info as he had lived in Egypt for many years and spoke arabic. Most of the “young” crowd that are up in arms is due to an egyptian kid that was in an Internet cafe and mouthed off to a cop. The kid was beaten so bad his parents could not ID the body (evidently the pic of the kid is floating around the ‘net). At any rate, the youth are tired of having a boot on their throats. The police are using their thug tactics and the MB are seizing opportunity although reports are the MB is actually fairly week in Egypt.

They say to a starving man, freedom is a full bowl of rice.

To those suffering under a US backed secular tyrant, the Islamists may seem like freedom. But if they do not learn from History they will repeat it. The history of democracy for the Arabs is “one man, one vote, one time”. And if they think their life is hell under a secular tyrant, they will learn just how unbearable it is under a religious tyrant.

A secular tyrant at least isn't a moralist busybody making sure no women can work or go anywhere alone or be educated, etc, etc, etc.

“REPORT: US, EU discussing need for international military intervention to remove Mubarak... Developing...”

WHAT?!?!? So, it’s OK to use “international military intervention” to remove a man who has kept the peace with Israel, BUT it was NOT OK to use “intervention” to help the freedom-loving Iranians who were being slaughtered the other year?

UGH! Hello, people, you’re on the wrong side! You really want Egypt to become a terrorist state???!???

SICK, PEOPLE, JUST SICK!!!!!!

Where was the UN when that dictator in Africa refused to leave some weeks ago?

Remove him first then we can talk about Mubarak.

Until then the UN should STFU!

Well if they do, expect the iranians to get involved, the libyans and the rest,

Do they really think they can just walk in there?
