Across the political spectrum, the punditry has been sharing its profound analytical wisdom on the Egyptian protests, and resultant political turmoil. Two dominant themes have emerged from these analyses: delusive celebratory predictions about the “democratic” uprising in Egypt from both mainstream (i.e., Left) and conservative pundits, or ahistorical drivel already assigning blame to the Obama administration for the “loss” of Egypt.
Amidst this cacophony of uninformed nonsense, motivated by the twin perversions of cultural relativism, and partisan hackery, I read these sobering observations written by an Egyptian student, Sam Tadros:
The opposition you wonder? Outside of the Muslim Brotherhood we are discussing groups that can each claim less than 5,000 actual members. With no organization, no ideas, and no leaders they are entirely irrelevant to the discussion.
The perspicacious Mr. Tadros’ concern raises larger questions—almost entirely ignored—about the Muslim Brotherhood’s unequivocal ideology, and societal goals, but more importantly, why its message resonates with the Egyptian Muslim masses.

Was listening to discussions about Egypt on local talk radio. A man with an accent had called in - he claimed to have sources that were very close to the situation there. He stated that the MB “had infiltrated ALL aspects of life in Egypt.”

I think the best and only hope for keeping the Muslim Brotherhood out of power is the army. They are the real rulers of the country.
The Generals ran Turkey for a century after Attaturk secularized the country. But I think they have lost control to the Islamist government that they incautiously let into power.
Of course the army was also a powerful force in Iran under the Shah, until Jimmuh Carter helped depose him and brought in the Mullahs. There, as in Turkey, the rise of Islamists meant that the generals lost much of their power.
So, I expect that the Generals in Egypt will resist a Muslim Brotherhood takeover, because they would lose their privileged role in the country in that event.
That’s about the best hope we have, since the idiots in the State Department haven’t a clue, and our Muslim President wants to see world Islamic rule—preferably with himself as Glorious Leader.

You would have to be there to understand. The Obama Mob is fighting the Mubarak Mob. Un fortunatly it would be better for us if the Obama Mob loses. Now how sick is that. But that is where we are.
Too bad Obama has put the country in a Lose, Lose situation. If the Obama Mob wins we lose. If the Mubarak Mob wins we lose. All hail Obama. If you do not understand...you lose.

marxist support islamists as long as they are anti-America and anti US hegemony in the world, and islamists and in this case muslim brotherhood use marxists in islamic countries as their useful idiots -- as they have more sway amongst the elites and educated and the young -- until they gain control and stabilize their gains and then they kill them all.
Remember general Heiser’s role in subduing the Iranian military? Wonder how he sleeps now?
Also, remember that the Shah’s final resting place is in Cairo. The lessons and ultimate destiny of the Shah — his blind trust of US (Shah intuitively was distrustful and weary of democrap presidents, but still he was blindsided by the level of their betrayal and perfidy — is not lost on Egyptian military.
My eternal hope is that they stay awake and weary and fight back against obummer’s sickening designs every step of the way and not get blindsided the way the Shah/Iran was, or else they/us will lose Egypt for ever.
