BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) - More Democratic politicians are joining Alabama's Republican party after it made election-year gains in November.
GOP officials said Monday that 10 more elected Democrats have notified the state Republican Party of their intention to switch parties.
The list includes Tuscaloosa County Sheriff Ted Sexton and 9 officials from Covington County including District Judge Trippy McGuire, Commissioner Bragg Carter and County School Board Chairman John Clark.
House Speaker Mike Hubbard, who leads the state Republicans, said he welcomed the elected officials to the GOP and said the future of the party appears bright.

Civility.
Or feel the heat!
Never trust a traitor. Now you just have RINO’s taking all the prospective conservatives funds from the GOP party.
I think it’s just political expediency.
I wouldn’t trust em ...as far as I could throw em!
All your demorats belong to us...

Some ‘Democrats’ in my family have seen the light too. They are realizing they are not democrats..aka communists.
Proving that their only core value is staying in office.
DITTO
That happens a lot in Red States, a lot times it's all about politics & getting reelected and not core values.
If they had any sense they wouldn't have been democrats at all..
This worries me though because alot of time they seem like they never get above RINO status.
Don’t we have enough RINOs in the party without IMPORTING more!!!!
10 more RINOs
Being from Covington County I never could understand Trippy being a Dem. He’s legit. County Sheriff is legit.Voted for Trippy last Nov.(only judge on the ballot),also voted for Meeks(only sheriff on ballot)
Alabama was a one party state until the 90s, and even though the GOP won Governor and AG races, it took a while for the down ticket offices to get to a two party situation.
2010 was the year the GOP got to the top of the hill...now the writing is on the wall.
And some of the Alabama “rinos” are probably more personally conservative than a lot of the “conservatives” in Cali, NY, Illinois etc etc.
Have them sponsor, promote and publicly sign a bill demanding long form birth certificate proof to be on the 2012 presidential ballot in Alabama, then I will have less doubts in their sincerity.
So true, people here forget Reagan was a liberal democrat at one time. Does that make him a RINO? I think not.
Changing parties means nothing. All this means is that there are ten more liberals self-identifying as Republican.
