Perhaps Christ is the Mercy of G-d, for He is the Son of G-d and sits on the Mercy Seat. Perhaps G-d knows whom he sheep are, even as he saved the murderer that was crucified next to him. Therefore, may G-d have mercy on his soul.

God saved the thief on the cross because that thief asked for Christ to remember him when He came into His kingdom. He acknowledged that while he and the other thief were being executed for crimes that they had committed, Christ was innocent. That’s repentance if ever there was any and repentance of sins is one of the cornerstones of our salvation.
