The 9.8% came from a Gallup survey. I guess you have to decide who you distrust less: Gallup or the feds.

What a choice!

Some people say the +36k jobs figure is not very reliable because of bad weather. I think it would be better to wait one month, to avoid sharp corrections. In Europe, unemployment data are released 30 or 40 days later (january figures in march)

This thing has escalated into a nightmare!

Agreed, with this comment!
This post was not directed at me, PSYCHO-FREEP, I pray nhwingut will not mind my jumping in here.

It's a mess and so out of control, there will be no way to fix it.

okay, maybe, yet I prefer to believe in the American people and America. Maybe, where there is a will, there is a way? PSYCHO-FREEP, I love you! Is there any word, haven't been back to thread, on how many of our people are still in Egypt? Do you or does anyone else have any numbers?

If these numbers were true the Dow would be up over a thousand.

As I type this the Dow is up one and change.

People are losing their homes at record rates, and yet we are supposed to believe they all have the capital to start their own businesses.

It feels like I am living in an Orwell novel.

Yes, but if so, the U-6 number should go up... but it went down, also.

Actually, the U-6 did go up.

Not-seasonally adjusted U-6 surged from 16.6% to 17.3%!

The Obamanian-led DEms & America-haters are on a mission.

To destroy this nation and remake it into a caliphate with a swastika and crescent flag.

You got that right. I absolutely expected this, once Congress “failed” to extend unemployment benefits.

I heard on the news yesterday that this month it’s 9.8%.

That was from Gallup, but what do they know.

This is from THE REGIME!

Varney stated deep in the report 300,000 gave up looking for work thus the lower unemployment rate.

This report from the gov’t is bogus big time.

Yup. Those who gave up looking for work or exhausted their unemployment bennies aren't counted.

My Sis works on the Street - she says that her firm discounts ALL unemployment figures between November and March. All figures are skewed at this time due to part-time holiday hiring [and then layoffs in January].

She sez the first reliable figures will come in about March 1.

Why would a net increase cause the unemployment rate to rise
?!?

They lie.

Real unemployment is ~19-20%.
