With tens of thousands of people across New Mexico without natural gas service, Gov. Susana Martinez on Thursday declared a state of emergency, ordered government offices be shut down Friday and urged schools to "strongly consider" remaining closed for the day.

Haven’t they switched on the Sun and Wind power generators yet? Wonder why?
Pray for Egypt
Didn’t former Governor Richardson shut down NM’s own NG discovery and development work to make way for Obama’s unicorn brigades?
"How 'bout some more beans, Mr. Taggart?"
NM Ping
Burn wood.
Glad we’re on Propane!
There was a great Blazing Saddles quote on one of the Anderson Cooper gets beat threads... “Not the face, not the face!”
It was pretty cold here the past couple days, my place went into negative numbers on Monday afternoon and didn’t get back up into positive territory until yesterday morning. -20 was the lowest.
I’m on propane so heat wasn’t a problem, did have a couple pipes freeze even though I left them dripping. None burst though.
It’s certainly nice of NM to Save the Earth by limited their use of petro energy.
You got that right!
” Glad were on Propane! “
Of course, the price of propane went up 10cents/gallon between the time I called in the order Tuesday, and the time they actually delivered it yesterday afternoon... ;)
"On January 24, 2008, Governor Richardson issued ExecutiveOrder 2008-004, Imposing a Six Month Moratorium on New Oil and Gas Drilling in Santa Fe County and the Galisteo Basin. The six-month moratorium will be in effect through July 24, 2008. As stated in the Executive Order, the Governor is committed to ensuring the health, safety, and welfare of all New Mexicans and to protecting the natural and ecological riches of the State while still supporting much-needed economic development."
We are at the end of a line and people must have conserved quite well last night because we had too much pressure and it blew our pilots out. BRRRR.
Citizens are cold, broke, and out of work thanks to The 0bama regime and their hopey, dopey, change. How much more are people willing to put up with?
I use propane as well. I will never live in a house hooked up to natural gas lines nor will I ever get hooked up to them. EVER.
Safe, efficient natural gas *BOOM*
I think governor Martinez has plans to increase gas and oil activity anyway but this is going to help her with fence sitters. The reporters kept asking the NM gas co. guy why they weren’t getting natural gas from NM.
While I have no preference, keep in mind Propane has one very bad characteristic, it is heavier than air where natural is lighter than air.
If you use propane and your heater is in a basement, a small leak can cause gas to pool in the space. This is the same reason propane is frowned on when used in boats. Just FYI,,, just be safe.
Yes, and welcome to a cool phase in our climate.
