Abderdeen sounds Arabic to you? No wonder you take offense to so many things so easily. Aberdeen is Gaelic.

So the medieval Muslim war chiefs Abder Rahman III and Salah al-Deen (aka Saladin) were actually Gaelic?

Why are you trying to pick a stupid argument?

Bald eagles: Good at reading deer tracks. Not so good at reading train tracks.

Wow, you found similar sylabbles in different languages. Amazing. Well, actually aber isn’t all that similar to abder, but oh well. Aberdeen is a city in Scotland, and a big one I might add my linguistically challenged FRiend. The Aberdeens in America derive their names thusly.

It’s really bad when others start to notice Fiji. Just admit when you’re wrong.

:) From Wikipedia:

Aberdeen (i /æbərˈdiːn/; Scots: Aiberdeen listen (help·info); Scottish Gaelic: Obar Dheathain [ˈopər ˈʝɛhɪn]) is Scotland's third most populous city, one of Scotland's 32 local government council areas and the United Kingdom's 29th most populous city. It has an official population estimate of 210,400.[2] Nicknames include the Granite City, the Grey City and the Silver City with the Golden Sands. During the mid-18th to mid-20th centuries, Aberdeen's buildings incorporated locally quarried grey granite, whose mica deposits sparkle like silver.[3]

The city has a long, sandy coastline. Since the discovery of North Sea oil in the 1970s, other nicknames have been the Oil Capital of Europe or the Energy Capital of Europe.[4] The area around Aberdeen has been settled since at least 8,000 years ago,[5] when prehistoric villages lay around the mouths of the rivers Dee and Don. In 1319, Aberdeen received Royal Burgh status from Robert the Bruce,[citation needed] transforming the city economically. The city's two universities, the University of Aberdeen, founded in 1495, and the Robert Gordon University, which was awarded university status in 1992, make Aberdeen the educational centre of the north-east. The traditional industries of fishing, paper-making, shipbuilding, and textiles have been overtaken by the oil industry and Aberdeen's seaport. Aberdeen Heliport is one of the busiest commercial heliports in the world[6] and the seaport is the largest in the north-east of Scotland.[7]

In January 2011 Aberdeen was named one of five cities which could help the UK climb its way out of the recession because of its high levels of employment, abundance of skilled workers, and an increase in the average weekly earnings. Aberdeen City and Shire was dubbed in the report by officials as the "one to watch" with its rapid growing economy, size and oil reserves.[citation needed]

Aberdeen has won the Britain in Bloom competition a record-breaking ten times,[8] and hosts the Aberdeen International Youth Festival, a major international event which attracts up to 1000 of the most talented young performing arts companies.

Beautiful. I've seen many bald eagles while fishing in Maine. They're amazing.

Thanks!

I just moved to Aberdeen. My son thought he saw a bald eagle the other day. Apparently he was right.

I hope the engineer went back to take the bird home, cook him, and eat him. I’m sure Bald Eagle makes a tasty meal. Yum.
