Collins: Northern border security 'grave concern' (RINO concerned about Canadian "terrorists")

WASHINGTON — A massive security gap along the nation’s northern border is cause for grave concern as Maine combats a growing drug smuggling trade, says Sen. Susan Collins.

Sen. Susan Collins, R-Maine, says the Department of Homeland Security “must continue to analyze the right mix of resources, ensuring there is effective use of personnel, technology, and international, state, and local agency partnerships that allow the border be open to our friends, but closed to those who would do us harm."

A new federal report highlights just how vulnerable Maine’s long border with Canada is to an array of illegal activity, from the potential of terrorists entering the country to the problem of methamphetamine trafficking, says Collins, R-Maine.

With respect to terrorism, the northern border is as much an issue as the southern border. I do hope Collins takes the southern border as seriously.

While northern border security is important, the Canadians aren’t actively working against us.

Generally northern border security becomes most urgent when government seeks to distract us from the southern border.

Unbelievable...

And did Collins support the Arizona law? For some reason I doubt it.

Hey, Rabs, you supported a candidate in last years Arizona Senate race who compared the border fence to the Berlin Wall.

So how do you get off lecturing ANYONE about border security issue, you hypocrite?

I recall a terrorist apprehended at the Canadian border out west a few years ago, by an alert border official who thought something was fishy. She was right. So the prospect of violations of our northern border is not a fantasy. Maybe the rino-ette senator is a blind pig finding a nut here.

I am not worried about the Canadians per se. I’m worried about the terrorists who figure out it’s a whole lot easier to walk through the Canadian wilderness to reach the US than it is to go through Mexico.

There are areas in many cities in Canada that are like someone imported all the residents out of an upscale neighborhood in Karachi or Islamabad. Commonwealth brethren with preferred immigration status. Hell yes the northern border is a concern, but not on account of undocumented workers like the south. The concern up here is undocumented Jihadis.

While northern border security is important, the Canadians aren’t actively working against us. ....Unbelievable...

Were YOU a terrorist - which border would you prefer - one that's getting all the attention or one that is wide open with NO attention?

How many of the 9-11 plane-bombers came over the Mexican border?

None.

How many came over the Maine border?

Mohammed Attah and his buddy. And they cased out Brunswick Naval Air Station the night before.

Yes, we have to secure the southern border but - NEWS BULLETIN: Maine's border is long and relatively unwatched - and Canada is full of Muzzies. (And remember the terrorist caught with a trunk full of explosives, coming over the Canada/Washington line, headed for LAX? Only the astute suspicion of a border guard saved a real tragedy.

AND COLLINS is Maine's Senator. Why attack her for wanting to protect her states border? Isn't that her job? Is anyone else concerned?

I know her - have for years - and will not vote for her. But wake up - too many of the left over freepers jump on anyone they don't like - and 90% of the time, as to Collins, rightfully so - and condemn each and everything they do/say.

Care to tell me WHY we shouldn't be more vigilant about our northern borders?

She's such an asshole. Just looking for an excuse to funnel money to Maine, under the guise of "National Security".

Start laying mines along the southern border to keep 3rd World Julio's out, and you'd be doing the most good.

I've noticed a trend lately on FR - ripping into RINOs even when they happen to be right. So if conservatives are going to do that, why should a RINO give a damn what we think or say about them?

Criticism needs to be focused and not just blindly lashing out in anger.

I'm not sure I said we shouldn't be vigilant about it. However crossing the southern border among millions of illegals is far easier than crossing the northern border with thousands (At best) of illegals.

You and a lot of others on the thread are showing your real stripes - it would seem you're more anti-Mexican than worried about terrorists crossing our borders -

READ MY POST #14 - and refute it if you can.

FR seems to have devolved into, mainly, a Mexican hate screed and anything touching on Mexicans causes a massive overload that short circuits the rational-reasoning cells of ones brains.

About the only thing you got right in your post is the word:

Exactly right - and we WILL lose the battle after so dearly having won the battle if this continues.
