WASHINGTON, DC, Feb. 3 -- A federal district court judge in New Orleans found the US Department of the Interior in contempt of his order to lift a moratorium on deepwater drilling, which DOI imposed following the Macondo well accident and oil spill last spring. Regulators acted with determined disregard by instituting a second ban after Judge Martin L.C. Feldman overturned the Obama administrations first moratorium on June 22, Feldman said in a Feb. 2 ruling.
He said that each step DOI took after he imposed a preliminary injunction against the first moratorium showed its defiance. Such dismissive conduct, viewed in tandem with the reimposition of a second blanket and substantially identical moratorium, provide this court with clear and convincing evidence of the governments contempt, Feldman said. DOI is reviewing the judges decision, a spokeswoman told OGJ on Feb. 3.
Hornbeck Offshore Services LLC and other offshore companies sued to overturn Interior Sec. Ken Salazars first deepwater drilling moratorium and continued their action when he imposed the second on July 12. Feldman also granted their request to recover their significant legal expenses on Feb. 2.

Like a judge can stop the regime!!!
news from yesterday morning
We have to take the formal steps before any other steps are appropriate.
I said this yesterday and I say it again...
Its REAL simple... Tow the rigs out and start em up.
When the Feds come to stop it... water the tree of liberty!
Would you have preferred the Judge cave in? A lot of rocks make a mountain. This is a pretty big rock
The Judge should put Ken Salazar in jail for a month or two.
5 - 10 years
Someone gives the land and a construction crew starts in building a refinery ... or drills show up in Alaska with the Alaskan governor's permission and blessing.
Why? Oil will soon be 200 a barrel. Then they will beg us to drill.
geesh...you missed my point I guess.
Obama & C0. will soon be in contempt for still pushing the unconstitutional healthcare law.
Don’t worry, the cubans will drill in the gulf. The country will never recover from capt. midnight. He is the why stupid people should not vote.
90% of our government is in contempt of We the People. Book em Dano.
I’ve often wondered what would happen to the price of oil if every producer in the US and in US waters were to just shut them in for about a month. Shut the doors and take a nice long vacation.
They are.
Less see here...two or three contempt charges and that makes for some real interesting times..especially since EARS seemed to have gave away another nations national security secrets to finalize a treaty deal.
I have to wonder when the Judicial branch will issue the orders for arrests. I’d like to really see a Honduras incident here.
Barry Soetoro:”Why stupid people should not vote”
That would make a catchy bumpersticker...but...
the stupid people wouldn’t “get it.”
Federal judge. Send in some marshals and arrest Salazar’s butt for contempt of court. Tell him he will remain in jail until the order is obeyed. And don’t put him in a country club prison.
Of course, you all know who I would like to arrest before Salazar.
Hussein laughed at the first decision to overturn the ban. He laughed at the second one. He’s laughing again.
