I read an interesting article in the Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier about Iowa Governor Terry Branstad’s desire to replace the statewide voluntary preschool program that is currently being funded by the state aid formula at around $3500/per student with a voucher program that would assist families who earn less than 250-300% of the poverty level with a sliding fee scale.

Can anyone prove scientifically that preschool actually helps children become smarter by the time they graduate high school? If it doesn’t, then it is nothing more than glorified babysitting.
Take note of today’s DMR story where Terry’s grandson is enrolled in preschool on the public purse.
Having homeschooled my six children I can tell you that I have seen studies that proposed starting formal education at age 8 or as even as late as 10 as they learn faster and more retain more since their brains are far more developed.
These studies also looked into that possibility staring education as early as 4 years actually hurts your child because you are forcing their brains to function at levels their brains have not yet developed to absorb abstract and complex content. Math is a example. Can any 5 year old explain why 2 + 4 = 6 ?
Personally, I think it's a waste of time and basically you are stealing your kid childhood if you stick them in baby prison, err I mean pre-school

Daycare is invented by Lenin. It is to get the traditional value influence of the parents away from children during the “Formative” years. The first seven years form the worldview of a child.
Dewey in the thirties knew this....They hated Christianity and knew they had to put children in forced school younger than seven.
The Prussian model of forced education which was put into our schools is to create mass conformity to one way of thinking. We saw the results of that mass conformity in the sexual revolution of the 60.
Skinner/Pavlov conditioning has been inserted into all school methodologies to create little hedonists/atheists. It is not an accident that we got massive movement of youth to vote for zero and homosexual marriage.
They need to indoctrinate to get children to go against Natural Law Theory and common sense....so they needed the cultural Marxist curricula of multiculturalism, tolerance (take morality out of sex) and to destroy the Christian paradigm that was prominate. Kinseyian “sex ed”....all to take morality out of the children so they can be herded off and the useless ones eliminated....the death panels for old folks....and you won’t hear a peep.
One on One (adult child ratio) in the first 7 years creates the highest IQ.
Young children learn best from being with their fathers and mothers in real world experiences...like milking the cows, churning the butter. Our school system is intentionally designed to make them immature....stay infantile....they can only copy other 3 year olds and be “smarter”?????? How stupid is that ???? With one adult yelling at a bunch of kids..with a vocabulary of 10 words...stop that! Quit crying....Quit biting...Quit hitting.....
All studies show that the longer in day care the more anti-social. When schools started at 7, children were ready to “sit” and learn. They had all their social skills and morality formed for the most part. The had a concept of time and place and never thought they were “rejected” by mother, as do young children. That rejection will result in attachment, security problems later in life and affect all future relationships.
Why do you think “tutors” are effective”??? The facts are that young children who are forced away from loving parents for more than a few hours after the age of three have higher levels of stress hormones. They also feel rejected if long hours of “pre-school” which was renamed in the seventies so mothers wouldn’t feel “guilty” like they should, from being separated from their children in the first 6 years of life. Emotional insecurity happens from separation and the children become easier to herd—not nearly as individualistic as they would like our forefathers were who hardly ever were in a “school” setting.
Think of our school systems as mass conformity centers or group-think centers.
Read, Gato’s Underground History of education or Schlafley’s Who will rock the cradle. We are raising emotionally disturbed children by not having a “mother” nurturing them for the first essential 6 years of life.
Orphanages were thought to be evil....that is why Lenin’s Day Care scheme never took off here in the US. Then in the 70’s they put the word “school” into daycare......it is what cultural Marxism is all about....rename....twist it into something that it is not
Institutionalized care for children is inhumane and from all the Romanian studies we understand how sick and inhumane it really is. A non-conditioned mother would NEVER allow strangers to watch her children.
No primates allow “strangers” to care for their children either....after 3 years...they may allow an aunt to care for them for short periods.....
Natural Law Theory is being forced out of our girls and boys....they are going against nature....not only sexually, but they are denying God’s design of women who are nurturers and trying to paste nipples on men. They need feminized men to take over America. It is the cultural Marxists intent.
State-funded pre-school is even more stupid than state-funded primary school.
IMO, preschool is a waste of time as well as kindergarten.
I agree, I’d much rather have kids stay home, but this plan is certainly better than what exists.
They are trying to make Branstad look bad with this.
I think it just adds credibility to him getting rid of the program.
He can say his own grand kid is in the program, but he is still willing to cut it.
