I just wish someone at the speech had the balls to ask him that if they have to share the profits with the employees, does that mean the employees have to help out when we have a loss year?

Actually, what he’d like to see is the consolidation of all the myriad millions of businesses and business owners into just a few, say a couple hundred businesses in the entire country,

because they’re easier to control that way.

Found this on the DU blog from 2009. Oh LOOK!...the blogger says he has a Bachelors Degree in Aerospace Engineering!

The Crumbling of America - The History Channel is running a compelling documentary...

...on America’s crumbling infrastructure right now. Every elected official from the President down to your city councilman or county commissioner needs to be watching this tonight!

http://www.history.com/shows.do?episodeId=452430&action...

“America’s infrastructure is collapsing. Tens of thousands of bridges are structurally deficient or functionally obsolete. A third of the nation’s highways are in poor or mediocre shape. Massively leaking water and sewage systems are creating health hazards and contaminating rivers and streams. Weakened and under-maintained levees and dams tower over communities and schools. And the power grid is increasingly maxed out, disrupting millions of lives and putting entire cities in the dark. The Crumbling of America explores these problems using expert interviews, on location shooting and computer generated animation to illustrate the kinds of infrastructure disasters that could be just around the bend.”

Douglas J. De Clue
Bachelor of Aerospace Engineering,
Georgia Tech

“The perils of too much regulation are matched by the dangers of too little”

Uh...No, they are NOT!
Especially where the Constitution states that the regulation is NOT the purview of the Federal Government!

I understand he went over like a lead balloon...no cheering or clapping.

This jamoak has been “repairing crumbling roads and bridges” for 2 freakin years,,,had the opportunity to spend more than $200 billion on them but CHOSE to payoff the unions and prop state governments.

He is sinking and failing at every turn and now demands businesses spend as profligately as he does because he is out of ideas and money. Now he wants theirs and knows he can’t just waltz in and take it since he lost the house.

Despicable commie fascist.

If you can find it, be prepared to have your intelligence insulted by their wanton abuse of the power of suggestion.

It’s the same way with their “Life After People” series.

I want to put more people to work rebuilding crumbling roads and bridges.

Did he honestly say this?

I've been thinking about this a lot recently, as I've been trying to navigate my way around potholes and other roadside hazards.

Isn't road maintenance and work already funded through gas, auto, tolls, and other taxes? Isn't this kind of maintenance already planned and scheduled? If so, why are they pretending to throw us bones, claiming this is somehow new work?

Those who ardently support the government's involvement in things, including paying higher taxes, by arguing, "well, don't you want roads, and [other infrastructure items? If so, shouldn't it be our responsibility to pay more for the government-provided things we use?]"

That may make sense at some level, but the problem is, we've already paid for those things tens of times over. We should have the best infrastructure system in the world, given all the money we've spent. If my car tears up a little piece of asphault, there should be a DOT worker coming right behind me with a little trowel, and filling up the crack.

If nobody has mentioned it, this has been posted twice. Check 8 Shocking, Funny and Revealing Things Obama Told the Chamber of Commerce for some additional comments.

I'll post my comments here as well.

From the article:
"I'm here in the interest of being more neighborly. Maybe we would have gotten off on a better foot if I had brought over a fruitcake when we first moved in."
He shouldn't talk that way about Biden. At least not in public.
From the article:
We're trying to run the government more like you run your businesses - with better technology and faster services. In the coming months, my administration will develop a proposal to merge, consolidate, and reorganize the federal government in a way that best serves the goal of a more competitive America.
Translation: BOHICA, I'm going to consolidate power in the Executive branch. We will be more efficient at ruining your business through stronger regulation.
From the article, quoting Obama:
"I want to put more people to work rebuilding crumbling roads and bridges."
So do it. We already gave $787 billion for exactly those purposes. You should have done this already.
From the article, quoting Obama:
That's why I've promised to veto any bill larded up with earmarks
Duck when he turns his head. He'll hit you with his (growing) nose.

This was a campaign promise. I haven't kept count, but he's signed bills with well over 25,000 earmarks that I'm aware of. And my number could be short by an order of magnitude if I do some research to find the actual total.

I guess "larded up" works out to more than 1000 earmarks per $100 billion spent. Less than that is only "bloated" and doesn't get the veto pen because it falls short of the "larded up" standard.

“does that mean the employees have to help out when we have a loss year”?

...that person would’ve been the hero of 2011! He also would’ve been audited and put through the wringer by the MSM.

I believe it. Sadly, it is clear even THC has an agenda. I did watch some of “Life After People.” It was almost as if they were hopeful the earth would “reclaim itself.”

” If my car tears up a little piece of asphault, there should be a DOT worker coming right behind me with a little trowel, and filling up the crack.”

I love it!!! The reason there isn’t a DOT worker coming behind you is because for every 1 worker using a shovel there 6 worker standing there watching him, so you only get 1/6 of what should be done getting done!

Judging from comments that I have read on a variety of different sites in reaction to this arrogant and ignorant speech given to the Chamber of Commerce this morning, I would say that this speech was significant in that it raised the level of contempt for this man by a measurable amount among the people who already distrust him. I think it was intentional on the part of Obama, Inc. trying to create greater division and acrimony. While I think the fruit cake reference was in poor taste (pun understood), they should have thought about it more....making the association with Obama and fruit cake is already a given....no need to emphasize the stupidity of his remarks. We now have the fruitcake speech to define the Obama presidency.

I understand the significance of your obligations to your shareholders.

He must have learned that one after he confiscated the bond holder's funds from Chrysler. On the job training.

This is getting as old as the bridges.
