Ronald Reagan was born 100 years ago on Sunday, and that has prompted celebrations and reflections of our 40th president. Among many conservatives he is held up as the ideal president, perhaps better than any other. Among some others he is viewed less favorably, especially when it comes to his fiscal policies. What do you think? Does Ronald Reagan stand as the nation's greatest president?

I don’t like how they have 2 answers for yes and no...

Notice that they’ve split the votes into several categories...I agree with both “Yes” categories. I suspect they intend to split the “yes” votes and all “no” votes will flock to that absurd “ruinous” vote.

George Washington was the greatest president. Reagan is up there, but Washington was the greatest.

I have a problem with this poll. While I accord President Reagan a very high ranking (top 3 or 4) I just can’t bring myself to place him before my favorite: Abraham Lincoln.

Washington, greatest president of the 18th century (not that there was much competition) and greatest overall.

Lincoln, greatest president of the 19th, and #2 overall.

Reagan, greatest president of the 20th, and third overall.

Voted No for the same reasons a Posts 4 and 5.

He was a good President and worthy of admiration, but the worship is getting out of hand.

I agree; I did vote in the poll though to combat the no votes.

It would have been better had the poll asked if he was the 20th Century’s greatest President.

Not gonna vote in this one.

It was glaring..

Even simple polls are fraudulent...it's just amazing how everything has a twist or hidden agenda today...

Worship? You can’t be serious. It isn’t worship...it’s recognition of his contributions to our society and to mankind in general. I don’t worship the man...but the Lord knows I sure miss him.

He may not be our “best” President, but he most certainly is the best since the Civil War. I voted yes because the intent of this poll is to besmirch Reagan’s legacy.

Actually as great as Reagan was George Washington was our greatest president simply based on the fact that he did not become our last elected president. His willingness to step down thus creating an ongoing elected office can never be overestimated. He was a man who could have been king, but turned down the opportunity and walked away. Do you think if given the same opportunity that O’Bama would make the same decision?

I was born in 1956. Washington and Lincoln might have been greater for different reasons, But Ronald Reagan was without a doubt the greatest president in my lifetime so far. I’m inclined to suspect he’ll be the greatest president for the rest of my life too. There’ll never be another like him. Sad ain’t it?

I loved Reagan, but he was NOT our greatest president.

Washington and Jefferson both beat him hands down, along with a few others.
