Seems like I watched some show with Mark Fuhrman and he claimed the investigators really botched the case when they were trying to find him.
The police weren’t allowed to work with officers from other jurisdictions, plus turf issues, complicated things. They had their eye on Ridegeway, but they only had circumstantial evidence, nothing concrete. But one thing that chilled me is how he (Ridgeway) had garage sales, selling the things of his victims. The investigators should have gone to a few of them.
